As we've discussed this on the car sightings thread I though we needed a new place so we can go and OMG together. First is the Ford Scorpio A truly ugly car, however my parents had the estate version and it was beautiful to drive and be driven in. It looked a bit better as the estate version but could still reduce children to tears. It was a fab car proving looks can be deceptive. Look here for a bit of inspiration www.uglycars.co.uk thank you daisydaze for the link.

This does it for me, every single time. UGH. No other words are required. And if I'm honest, I thought of uglycars because I saw the episode where Richard is driving the pink convertible Micra through his hometown, and instantly thought 'paper bag rating!!'

The Smart car is ugly in my opinion. I also don't like the Micra either.

Noooo, you can't have Angle-boxes on the ugly car website, especially when the Austin Princess only gets a 1 bag rating! And I suspect the photo is actually an Ambassador, not a Princess.

What about the Renault Megane? There is something wrong with that car's ass... looks like it's been bit by a sideways elevator

Yes, the Renault Megane has a weird looking arse. It isn't attractive, though I suspect it does have some functionality. However, while we're on the subject of cars with mutated bottoms... Not only ugly, but pointless. See, although I personally don't find the Ka, or its "evil twin" the SportKa, aesthetically appealing (too cutesy, and it has a huge saggy arse), I can see why people like them. They're small and nippy and stable and although you see a lot of them, they are a bit different from everything else. Hard to believe they've been around as long as they have with very little facelifting until now (I think the new one looks like a slightly rear-heavy baby Focus, from the few preview images I've seen, but I could be wrong). Anyway, this is not an anti-Ka rant (Stiggy please note ). It's an anti StreetKa rant. It's a sporty roadster with a saggy arse. The rounded rear end is not so bad on the Ka because the rounded roof and slightly snub nose balance it out - it's curvy all over. However, by turning it into a two-seater, it throws the proportions off and it ends up looking like someone left the clay pre-production models on the seat next to them on the train and someone dumped their luggage on them. It's a Ka that has been attacked with a tin opener and sat on by an elephant. And somehow, the "Winter Edition", with its folding tin top replacing the rag top of the... what? Summer Edition, I suppose, emphasises those slightly odd proportions all the more. It looks like a mutant Ka. And why would anyone make a Winter Edition of a convertible, anyway? It might be lovely to drive for all I know, but I don't think I'll ever find out. This car makes women look too cheap to buy an Audi TT and men look ridiculous. And I believe this monstrosity ended up in the Sub-Zero section of the Cool Wall! I can - sort of - understand the Ka ending up in the Cool section, but the StreetKa(ck)? What were they thinking?PS: I don't like the StreetKa. I'd rather have a Daihatsu Copen, and you can only tell what way that's facing if it's moving... and even then, only if you're sure it's not reversing!

Sorry Wy, the new streetKa is a damn sight nicer than the last one. Yes, it is decidedly pointless- if you wanted one of those why not just get the copen or god, the peogeot 207 thingy. But I do... kinda.... still.... like it... a tinsy bit! sorry! *stig runs for her life*

Here is a list of the ugly ones I saw yesterday in Cambridge. Well, in my eyes, they're ugly. A Citreon 2cv was parked about a block from the train station. There was a Smart car that someone was trying to drive fast. I had to laugh at that, since they have such small wheels and barely any pick-up. Also - that hummer limo I saw close to the middle of town. Eww!

I'm gonna say it again. I saw an ugly, old, red three-wheeled Robin in Brandon on my way home today.

Some may disagree but I'm in that sort of a mood but the Citroen DS I know it has all the interesting self adjusting suspension technology and other bits of stuff but in the metal it's not pretty. Interesting yes, pretty no.

I like the Citroen DS. I love it for its technology, but I also love its styling. It's quirky looking, but there's just something about it. But anyway, I saw something much more horrible today. Early 1990s (I'd guess around 1993, I didn't take any notice of the plate as I was too busy thinking, my god, that's horrible) Toyota Corolla. (for illustrative purposes only... the one I saw this morning may have been white, though I couldn't be bothered to commit any details to memory, so I could be wrong) And Clarkson was wrong when he described the world's best-selling car as dull. He was way too kind. It probably is dull to drive, but it's a weird looking thing, and oddly, it reminded me of some of British Leyland's more boring offerings. It's too dreary to be truly ugly, and too ugly to be truly dull. Thankfully, they've improved the design a little so it isn't quite as ugly any more, just plain uninspiring. Actually, that's a point. If it's the world's best-selling car, where are they all? I don't see many of them around. Either they just don't cut it here in deepest Devon or else they just fade into the background and I don't notice them at all.

It looks like it was inspired by those awnings people bolt onto the side of a caravan. "Ooh, let's just stick an extra bit here to make a bit more space..."
Just awful!

I saw this (or at least, one just like it) on the way to uni this morning... How bloody horrible is that? It's a Rover Streetwise (so even if you didn't think it was horrible before, the combination of "Rover" and "Streetwise", which, by the way, is emblazoned all the way across its hideous arse, should be ringing alarm bells), which is more or less a slightly beefed up Rover 25 given whatever the opposite of a facelift is. And don't be fooled by the slightly raised stance or the apparent chunkiness - this is a front-wheel drive "urban on-roader", as the marketing people put it. Or, a town car, in normal people language. It was also one of the few Rovers to receive the updated badge design - the one that looked like rather misshapen but tumescent gentleman vegetables. Oh dear.

It looks like it's been in a crash and someone has bodged up a plastic face-mask for it until the injuries heal!
