Ooh, Stepping Out - great song! If I could drive, one of the songs on my driving CD would be Hollywood Nights by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band

Night Moves is brilliant. Not quite as likely to inspire a speeding ticket as Hollywood Nights, either

I love Bob Seger, but he was my grandfather's favorite and some of his songs remind me of him and depress me a bit. Rock and Roll Never Forgets is good to drive to! My husband will die if he knew I told this, but he got a speeding ticket while listening to Hakuna Matata from the Lion King.

Ah, that is a tad blushworthy, but I can understand what probably happened. Songs like that will make people feel happy and carefree (doesn't it mean "No Worries" or something?) and the next thing you know, you're not noticing the speedo (by which I mean the speedometer, not skimpy swimwear), the sun's shining, you're smiling... and you're hitting 100mph, GATSOs are going off like fireworks... damn that warthog!

That's exactly what happened. The funniest part however was when he was talking to the policeman and a little 4 year old voice from the back seat said " Is Daddy going to jail?" Cop thought it was funny, but still gave him the ticket.

Lol! That's adorable!
Reminds me of the only time I've been in a car when it's been pulled over. It was late on a Friday night and I'd just poured a bucket of custard over my friend's head while dressed as Xena, Warrior Princess. He'd changed into clean clothes but hadn't been able to shower so had cleaned himself up as best he could and was driving me home when he realised he'd forgotten to switch the lights on. Fortunately, he was in an area where the street lighting meant it wasn't technically illegal for him to have the lights off, but as soon as the policeman put his head in the car, got a whiff of custard and saw me in the back looking utterly preposterous, he nodded and said, "You've been doing something for Children in Need, haven't you?"
He was right - it was all for charidee ;D

I have to edit this one big time because I came up with the perfect drive playlists for me based on the time of day I have to drive. The morning list has songs that not only motivate me, but calm my nerves so I don't speed too much or so I don't dread going to work as much. The afternoon list is to help me recharge my battery at the end of the work day and cheer me up after a hard day. Morning list: "You Gotta be" by Des'ree, "A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Williams, "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman, Marlene on the Wall by Suzanne Vega, Space Cowboy by Jazzamor, What I am by Eddie Brickell, Crazy by Seal, No Excuses by Alice in Chains, the MMMMM MMMMM MMMMMM (alright, it's correct the way Adco has it below ) by Crash Test Dummies, Until I Fall away by Gin Blossums, Possession by Sarah McLachlan, Missing by Everything but the Girl, No Letting Go by Wayne Wonder, Put em High by Stone Bridge, Sand in my Shoes by Dido, Gypsy Woman by Crystal Waters, Higher Love by Steve Winwood, I'll Remember by Madonna, Closer to Heaven by Alan Parsons, Children's Crusade by Sting... The afternoon list includes but isn't limited to: I Like it Like That by Peter Rodriguez, Lazy Lover by Brazilian Girls, Caramel by Suzanne Vega, Fields of Gold and It was Probably me by Sting, Game of Love by Michell Branch, Sewn by the Feeling, I Need You by America, Mary by Scissor Sisters, Cosmic Dancer by T-Rex, Must Get Out by Maroon 5, Better Days by Citizen King, Beautiful Freak by Eels, Walk on the Ocean by Toad the Wet Sprocket, so on and so forth. Like on the first list, these are the first bunch of songs. I just love them and it just really makes the day much brighter when I can listen to them on my drives.

Wow, inky - you have cool taste in music. I must check those choons out. My main driving song is "Trampled Underfoot" by Led Zeppelin. Pure adrenaline. And when I was a little kid, I used to drive around the neighbourhood on my Big Wheel (pretending it was a motorcycle) with Golden Earring's "Radar Love" in my head.

Great memories.

Best live band (apart from Slade, Mott the Hoople, Status Quo - OK maybe not the BEST live band but bloody good live? I saw them first time supporting Slade and Alex took no prisoners ;D A sad loss when he died

I just listened to Footloose by Kenny Loggins driving home and was brought right back to those 80's days. I love playing "sky" by Sonique when I'm on the freeway.

Lately, I've been liking some of the newer songs on Radio One, like Paper Airplanes, Disturbia, and Handlebars. I also like mixing alittle orchestra music in there like Sabre Dance, the Orgy, and Bolereo for good measure, the Blue song, Mambo Number 5, and Good Thing by Fine Young Canibals. I've also got a bit of London regae mixed in as well like Ghetto Defenders by the Clash, Dirty Old Man by Faithless, and quite a bit from UB40 and Madness. Great stuff while on the road.

Thanks to last Sunday's snow and my son being in the Christmas spirit, I've had to put my classical Christmas music list on the drives to and from his school lately.
