Had a chance to look through it and read a couple of chapters. Much lighter read than the original Wine Adventure book with lots of entertaining 'conversations' between Oz and James (which I think might be dialogue from the series - we'll soon know) Loads of pics and interesting information about beer, whisky, gin etc etc etc ;D

So is this one worth importing? I've heard the first book is mostly wine talk. Is this one much different?

I see the show has prompted a letter of complaint in the Radio Times... 'Oz n James are glorifying getting drunk'... blah, blah, blah!

I dislike that person immensely! I've never been very drunk and I quite enjoy watching James when he's a bit pissed. I think it's making out that all people are imbeciles and will copy what they do. All I see are two men having a jaunt around Britain sampling the nations top alcoholic drinks. They also get very giggly

Every good travel show has the host(s) getting drunk. Anthony Bourdain, Michael Palin, Oz and James, etc. Psh.

The thing for me is... they don't advocate getting disgustingly drunk, it's all tongue-in-cheek, and encouraging people to drink, relax, and enjoy what they're drinking, NOT just drinking to get p*ssed?!

If somebody is going to complain why don't they complain about those stupid beer adverts where everyone is guzzling and planning un-protected sexual activity with total strangers?
I love the Anthony Bourdain series and how they always show when he's hung over or has food poisoning. It's part of the experience he goes through.
As for James & Oz. It's a show about Alcholoic Beverages for crying out loud! They will be a bit "cheerful". That is expected. As long as they're not mugging old ladies or having a wee in somebody's open car window, let them be!
Stamps foot in huffy manor at people who will complain about anything on telly and ignore their neighbor being mugged on their doorstep.

I totally agree with Lily and MG. People who like making mountains out of molehills and whinging need to get a life.

'I followed the two previous series of the Oz Clarke/James May wine adventures and, although I admire Oz for trying to educate viewers about drinking better-quality produce, I've become concerned that the programme is pandering to those who drink to get drunk.
The RT feature invited us 'to join Oz and James for a drink - or three' and Oz said, 'True to form, James May got marvellously, heroically drunk', while the preview from' the Top Gear presenter gets sloshed at every opportunity'.
At a time when we're being urged to drink more sensibly, I don't wish to see more examples of James and/or Oz drunk'
Right Mr Bowtell of Hampshire, they were responsible, yes they were two men who got a bit drunk and no they were not advocating for people getting so drunk they can't see straight and pass out in the gutter in their own vomit. That extremely frightens me. Drinking to get a bit drunk/giggly to enjoy yourself is allowed! They aren't hurting anyone nor are they getting violent with anyone. They were never seen drinking and driving either before you have a go at them.
*sigh* Rant over ;D

My book came today. It's quite lovely. Need to give it a more in-depth read later since all I wanted to see was the pictures first
