I'm sure Dorothy Parker said something about it "taking a lot of time and effort to look this bad" or something to that effect, but I can't find the quote. In fact, while Dorothy Parker has been popping up in this thread, I've been frantically scouring quotation sites, but I can't find the one I want! She's well worth Googling though, and I can guarantee most of us will have heard - and probably used - at least one or two things she said at some point ;D I've just watched (and listened) again and I'll swear it's Dorothy Parker

He said Dorothy Parker and then grinned knowing he had said that (DP was an American writer) He knows it is Dorothy Perkins. He's a cheeky chap

That's what I heard too. She sounds like someone James might have come across, with his penchant for poetry, but I still can't find the quote I'm thinking of. It certainly wasn't "brevity is the soul of lingerie" or "men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses" though! Mind you, Dorothy Parker, Dorothy Perkins, Dolly Parton... an unlikely bunch, but any one of them would have made sense

He's always slightly changing words but makes them close enough so we recognise the original. Dorothy Perkins has become Dorothy Parkins I reckon.

Who's Dorothy Perkins? I don't know why he'd be associating Dorothy Parker and cheap clothes, she was quite stylish. Also, God forbid, a clever American! My favorite Dorothy quote:
"I like to have a martini Two at the very most At three I'm under the table At four I'm under the host."

Dorothy Perkins is a clothes store in the UK.
He's making the slip on purpose like PlayBoy and Game Station. It has become part of his captain slow persona to switch words around.
He smiles and looks cheeky, immediately after he says it. He knows exactly what he is doing.

Shame it wasn't Dorothy Parker...a favorite writer of mine. Here's some info on her for those unaware of this brilliant, charming, and sometimes very caustic author...she took no prisoners and truly was a 'one of a kind' kinda gal: www.americanpoems.com/poets/parker/ Dorothy Perkins clothing store or no, I have to think James would also appreciate Ms Parker's reviews and takes on the world. She lived a very dynamic life, truth be told. I highly recommend "Enough Rope" for those starting out.

I don't know, though, the side windows are very, very similar in shape to several of the late 70s - mid-80s Astons, so I can see where you were coming from ;D
I would have been trawling around for photos for a good few hours to find the right model if the lucky chap at Final Gear hadn't been in the right place at the right time. I'm not very good at Ferraris.

I love cars of that particular period myself. The Daytona was made from 1968 - 1973, making it roughly contemporary with my favourite Lamborghini, the Miura, and one of my favourite Alfas, the Tipo 33 Stradale (I posted photos of that one in the dream cars thread, but they really should be restricted as they are utter car porn!).

I think this is the first Ferrari i have seen that i like the look of. It's got a very attractive backside, if that's not too rude. Reminds me of a dodgem/bumper car.

Ah, that's why he hasn't been about. They obviously couldn't have his backside making the car look less good ;D
