Can I just ask, does the Office game still work for the rest of you? When I want to play, there is an awful lot of noise and it sort of crashes at level four. Is it me or the site? Anyone?

Bad news. Seriously. It looks like they have blocked the videos for people living outside the UK. Only some of the older ones are still working. On FinalGear they have posted ways to work your way around it by downloading a British proxy server. I'm not sure it will work, it will probably slow down the connection to such an extent that you can't play the videos anymore.

Well that sucks big time! What a load of party poopers they are if they have blocked them.

For those of you who caught the Simon Mayo show with Richard, it was very intelligent and good. Richard said the same thing about driving I've always known to be true. Lots of respect for you, Richard.

There are alot of angry people posting to the Transmissions on the site for them to be able to watch the clips again. Hopefully TG listens to the posts and sets it right for everyone to enjoy, as it was meant to be. I noticed something amiss a few days ago when I tried to watch one I linked to one of the threads and it gave me a rubbish comment "Either you don't have the latest addition of Adobe or your Java script is turned off." I think that's when it all went wrong.

In that case, the people at TG will have to comply with BBC regulations.

A brilliant mind over at FinalGear has found a way for those of us outside the UK to watch the videos. You have to copy and paste this line and either create a bookmark or keep it at hand in another way.
javascript:(function(){eval($('#mainContent%20.feature%20script').html().replace('config\.playerId','//').replace('config\.adServerURL','//'));})();;
When you click on the video you would like to see and it says "not available etc", simply click on this line and the video will play. I have no idea whatsoever how and why, but it works!

I'm not brilliant at JavaScript, but I think it works by changing the request your computer sends to the website from what you'd normally get to something that mimics the request someone in the UK would send. What I mean is that when I go to the TG website, all I have to do is click on the link and the video plays. This is because when their server looks at where I'm clicking from, my credentials match the list of places that can access the video content. However, when someone, say, in America, clicks on the link, the server looks at their credentials, sees they aren't on the list and a bit like a bouncer in a nightclub basically says "if your name's not down, you're not coming in." So you get the 'not available message'. When you click on the line of code above, what it does is a bit like the psychic paper in Doctor Who - when you show it to the 'bouncer', he sees that you have an invitation after all, and lets you in. The code replaces your credentials with what you need to get in. Anyway, that wasn't what I was going to say. I was going to say, is it just me or is the site getting quieter? I can understand the 'Transmission' section slowing down a bit as we're getting to the end of a series and all the filming is in the can now. The chaos in the American motor industry is keeping 'The Foreman' going, but what about 'The CupHolder'? Tom Ford seems to have vanished and I miss him (maybe he's busy with the next series of Fifth Gear) and Dan Read's only posted one clip all week in Tom's absence. Maybe everyone's having a bit of time off before Christmas...

I'm not sure, I tried if i could get the BBC iplayer to work, but it didn't, so it's not like a UK proxy. The site is a bit quieter, but that's probably because they have now stopped filming. They'll be back. In the meantime, I'm hoping for more outtakes.

No, it's not like a proxy, that's not what I meant. A proxy connection works by routing your connection through another server, which is why you can sometimes access sites that have region restrictions by connecting via a proxy server in that region, whereas this looks like it is literally just forcing a change in the content of a variable. This is why it won't work on other websites; they will have different coding and different variables.

Guess I'll still have to add British proxy to my Christmas list then. ;D
