The final episode, to a stupendous series, capped it off perfectly. Throwing the PC rule book out the window and setting it on fire!
James's car road tests of the squished Japanese Roller was very funny with his two passengers. The other car which looked like the face of a sppider looked exciting too. Driven very carefully and in the customary slow speed that all supercars should be.
I liked the tone of the car test and was worth the wait.
The news was brilliant! All that stuff on the Dacia Sandero too! Why a fine of £120 for James I mean come on? There are more important things in the world than a middle aged man parking illegally but very nicely. Come on!
The new Mazda Furai looks fantastic, just a shame it was broken.
The Rumpert that Richard drove was spectacularly ugly, but remembering the interesting design of the Nissan GT-R, it is aerodynamic and this would help the precision when driving it. However the viewing of the car was improved by the removal of my glasses. Richard's test was fast and fun, his enthusiasm packed test was also worth the wait.
The Stig did a fantastic job at controlling it around the track.
The SIARPC woohoo Jay Kay was back, one on one seem more natural than the previous weeks but who cares when Cowell was knocked off the top! Jay Kay is always a brilliant interviewee and didn't disappoint.
I still think Jennifer Saunders should be back on a dry surface.
The main film TGUK v TG German was fantastic! The spitfire entry was inspired (I would liked to have seen more of that) and to turn up in those beautiful Astons was a sight to behold.
The doubledecker challenge was funny and I'm delighted to see James use the throttle. The sound man on Jeremy's team was fabulous!!! The drag race with the Atom was fabulous but the Gwhizz was an unexpected choice.
The individual challenges were also brilliant Jeremy v Sabine was never going to end well, the Driving God was back in his natural driving seat and James in that white suit.
*holds in comments about James being bound and gagged *
Overall a fantastic show to finish on, a high because there was more James and Richard. The final film was a joy to behold and will no doubt become a classic.
I have always thought that best series was 8 and a close second was 7. Top Gear are back with the perfect blend of entertainment and car porn. The challenges were surprising with their many twists and always beautifully shot, as were the car tests.
The only problem I had was that it was a bit short and there wasn't enough James or Richard films. I'm sure this was due to time constraints but I'm sure the next series this will balance out.
Thank you TG and the TG crew who make this magical series.
I wait with baited breath for the new series. ;D
NB other notes will be added later
