I came across a Norwegian guy on Facebook and his name IS Stig! And I asked him for the meaning of it and it's of norse origin meaning he who walks.
So there we go, there IS a meaning to the name Stig after all!

Every name has a meaning......although I'm afraid I'm still stuck on 'Stig of the Dump'. I just can't get rid of that, as it's the only other Stig I'd ever heard of before.

Jeremy once said that the Secondary school he went to, all the new boys there used to get called Stig and that is where he got the name from. Don't know how/where it came from before that though.
I do definitely remember reading that somewhere.
