Firstly a girlie gushy bit.
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone at TG and especially James, Richard and Jeremy. It was a privilege to watch the show being filmed and I'd love to have the chance again. I felt very at home in the studio.
Thank you again ;D
Right back to the business that is show and reviewing.
They're back and with a growl and a bark. The series preview looks exciting and promises to have some special moments.
The Porsche 911 GT2 and the Lamborghini LP560-4 car reviews were a solid start and were wittily put together. The Porsche looks mad and the Lambo firm and a bit mad. The selection of drivers were an inspired touch, including the dog. I was almost expecting James to be sat in the drivers seat.
The News ;D Jeremy's jacket was pretty special. I'm sure a pair of curtains are missing somewhere.
The Dacia Sandero, how could James forget
. The depreciations on the cars were pretty spectacular, if you have the money then it was always going to be a risky investment. The new Cornish sportscar, Jet Stream S250 (which looks like it has been made from Lego and btw I got the jokes
) is an interesting creation.
That Citroen travel thing was, just, no. Keep your money in your pocket.
The Lorryists challenge, was frankly an eye opener. Just how much bodily harm can you do to yourself whilst driving one?
The decoration challenge was very funny, James's lorry was hippy-tastic, Jeremy's was Ray Winstone and Richard's was trying very hard. The Stig's Lorry driving cousin was genius! I wasn't expecting that.
The other parts of the challenge in Bedfordshire (
notpower sliding the lorries) were very funny and it could only happen on TG. It was so funny when Richard failed to hitch his trailer up and lost his car. I mean, how hard can it be?
The SIARPC was lovely; Michael Parkinson is a legend. I know he should have talked about cars but he was plugging which is always a bit ropey. But he was very charismatic. It's a shame the editors didn't keep in the bit about how he met his wife. And the time! Amazing for someone who doesn't like driving and he didn't get lost.
BTW Parky in the flesh is just like Parky on the TV.
The remainder of the lorryist challenge was something which I watched through my fingers...again. Poor James when that tyre burst, it could have been much worse. (More bodily and possibly psychological damage
)
Watching the three of them trying to do a hill start with something precious behind them (Jeremy's drums, Richard's OLIVER and James's piano) was a precisioned balancing act, but what a noise when that piano went. Oh deary me.
At the track I couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw the obstacles they had to go through. I'm relieved that Jeremy was ok but OOOOWWWW. I don't think James's insides coulld have coped with another shock. Jeremy you big daft pillock.
Overall, a fantastic start to the 12th series. It had a good balance of everything and flowed well from item to item. There were a couple of dubbed laughter bits which were a bit strange (the Cornish references during the News), but nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the show.
I can't wait for next week with the American muscle cars and the other mad antics that these 3 come up with! ;D (Plus more James and possibly a dusting off of TG Stuntman)
