More James tonight ;d
OK this is a tough one. If you have any problems, PM me.
The third episode of Top Gear had all the elements for a perfect programme but maybe not together in this order. *ducks flying maygrape bottles*
The iReal chair/car was an interesting concept and Richard was the perfect choice with his enthusiam (and build) to try it out. It is an iPod with wheels and could transform another part of the motor industry. Looks brilliant to me.
The news and the Dacia Sandero 4x4 (Renault) is coming. Funny how it's not impacting on James Car colours have never been exciting for the last 10 years. Apart from small cars which the manufacturer bulk paint and sell off at a discounted price. And the alternative way of slowing down traffic, well, yes a novel approach. Boys will be boys ;D
James's Finnish driving adventure was pretty brilliant. It makes perfect sense about the Finns' having such intensive learner driving experiences. It would make learning to drive, here, a more informative and respectful experience with what a car can actually do.
Mika Hakkinen is a legend and what a great teacher. There is something very appealing about James throwing a car about like that. He has the knowledge of the car that he should be able to do anything with it. I can't wait to see James's first supercar test on the track. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this aspect of James and his interview with Mika.
DIY V8 Blender the Clarkson way. This reminded me about his ventures on his own talk show when he dabbled in microwaves and biscuit tins. It was a fantastic use of TG ingenuity and my God, James must have an iron stomach lined with concrete. I am in awe of his bravery/stupidity in trying that concoction. his face was a picture though
Now, the SIARPC. Mark Wahlberg, was, ok. He was ok. Too much plugging, too much American nonsense and too much info. At least he's a car nut but he wasn't particularly charismatic. It could have been left out this week.
The modifying of a car to be doing the speeds of an Evo 10. The Renault Avantime was a great and thoughtful little car. I'm staggered with the amount of man-thinking which went on and not on Jeremy's behalf. I was charmed by James's ability to clean, tune and sort out the mechanics (although I'm sure there was more than 1 'James' about). I'm baffled that the tinkering didn't make more of a difference to the times.
Overall, I wasn't happy with how the programme sat as a whole. I know that it followed a particularly epic episode but it felt clunky. The elements were there but the connections weren't.
I feel there should have been a car test just to set the tone rather than a new technology, which was a film held over from the previous series.
The news was in it's place and James's experience could have also held the Richard iReal film, but James's film should have been shown to set up his supercar test drive.
The addition of the DIY V8 Blender was fun and if the SIARPC wasn't there, then this could make an interesting sideline.
The SIARPC was rubbish, nothing to do with Jeremy just the actor. Maybe Richard's film could have sat here instead.
The end challenge was a perfect TG 'how hard can it be?' example and rounded off the show well.
Maybe there was too much content, which meant that everything was squished together, however the pace was ok. I can't put my finger on what is bothering me. Maybe it's me
The positives were the individual elements and more James throughout the programme. There are 3 presenters, share the load.
