Tonight Harry Enfield returns to the track. Who turns on the lights at Blackpool? and the Veyron and JAMES GOES FAST! bring it on!
First impressions as always and then I'll pick it to pieces
The Zonda F Roadster power test with James, was spectacular. It wasn't the usual POWER test but a more thoughtful view of the car as well as its power. James sliding it into some corners was fantastic. I always knew he was the Stig I'd love to see him doing more of these tests but I'm not whether we will or not. (please do another one ) The white Bugatti Veyron was stunning and the drag race against the Zonda was noisy and thrilling. The Veyron has the traction and poise to get itself off the line, it would have been terrible if it had spun.
The news was entertaining as ever, but I was sure I've seen that Peugeot piece before or was that on the News uncut. I think it's highly confusing to repeat the same bit of news as it was almost verbatum. Unless there was nothing more exciting to talk about then, ho hum. The Dacia Sandero joke is wearing a little thin now, better to stop now whilst they are still ahead. Loving Jeremy's slippers.
Harry Enfield was a brillaint SIARPC just because he could improve his time and do his '........................in the WoorLD' bit. What a welcome change, he wasn't plugging anything! I'm delighted he was back and improved his time. However it seemed a little laboured at times.
The new concept Lambo was stunning and please make it! It looks stunning. I wish I had been in the studio to witness such car porn, all the most remarkable supercars under one roof.
The fuel economy challenge was genius! Jeremy's Jag, James's Subaru and Richard's Polo were all interesting choices. I didn't know which car was going to win but I did like the route choices and the fact Jeremy didn't care! I had an inkling he'd do well because he just has a lucky streak and James just picked an interesting route. It was funny to see how careful (or not) they were being at times with their speed and consumption. Richard and James's duel was highly amusing but it did affect their average fuel consumption.
It was a tense last few miles and genuinely satisfying to see the Stig turn on the lights.
Nice to see Jeremy do a challenge he hated and James loved.
I loved the fact James did half a 'Some say.....' for the laps of the Veyron and Zonda F. The Veyron was smooth, in control and beautiful around the track. It was almost too perfect. I wasn't surprised that it didn't top the board due to its weight, however it got traction off the track which was pretty remarkable with such a powerful engine.
The Zonda F , just edged ahead because it has that lightness and I wasn't at all surprised it was so high up the board.
Overall a pretty tidy episode. When TG make a good programme you know from the smile that splits your face in half. Unlike last week, I feel slightly more satisfied at the end. It was balanced and there was more James which was wonderful. He is really starting to shine and I hope to see more of him doing the power tests and links. The power struggle seems to be settled from 2:1 to feel more 1:1:1 ;d
I imagine I'll find more bits to comment on when I rewatch it but on first impressions, pretty brilliant Can't wait for next week ;D
