Oh dear. Reading the reports on HH it seems WHS were not very organised and loads of people didn't get their books signed because Richard left after he'd done his hour. Not his fault obviously. Some people had been there hours and didn't get to see him. That's very sad. I feel sorry for anyone who had that happen to them. Thank goodness Waterstones were on the ball with the organising thing yesterday. I mean, how hard can it be? ? ;D

LOL. I think we said something similar. I think they were quite taken aback by how many women were there wanting to win first prize. ;D

Hi everyone. Looks like you've been getting an idea of how the day went from HH. Well, I can confirm that it was somewhat disappointing. Both Wolfie and I left without obtaining the coveted signature. We actually got to WH Smith before 1pm, but on our arrival we saw that signs had been put up, saying that, due to the vast number of people in attendance, the queue had been closed. So, we couldn't even join the queue!!! Apparently, some people had been queuing since 6.30am!! At least Wolfie got to buy a copy of the book, anyway. Best moment in the shop: one of the security guards telling everyone to keep moving, and to keep areas clear so as to allow people through - for health and safety reasons! I mean, as if any of the Top Gear fans present were ever going to take a plea on that basis remotely seriously!!!!! ;D ;D Having been told that we'd be unable to join the queue to meet Richard, we learned that said queue was actually on the upper level of the shopping centre, as the shop itself was too small. Far, far too small, as it turned out: the queue was in three (I think it was three) very large sections, along by the balcony rails where you can see into the lower level. I can't help thinking that, if the queue had been stretched out straight, it really would've been a mile long!!!! ;D Wolfie and I thought it was so enormous that it warranted a photo or two, so she got out her camera. Unfortunately, there was a security guard standing nearby, who wouldn't allow her to take any photos, so as to protect the privacy rights of the people in the queue (ie. it would infringe their human rights). It seemed so ridiculous that we both had a (good-natured) Clarkson-style rant about it! Wolfie said she remembered Clarkson once actually writing about this exact policy in one of his columns in The Sun, so the fact that we were now experiencing it first hand made us laugh. Hopefully she'll be able to dig it up, as I'd love to read it now! Actually, we did manage to get an illicit photo after all.... Following our disappointment, we went for a wander around the shopping centre, and we came across a rather wonderfully named drink, which looked so good that we tried one of the free samples on offer. Well, it had quite a kick to it; in fact, it was really quite something! Its name: Thunder Toffee Vodka!!! How cool is that?!! I want to see some of that on Top Gear!!!! ;D One other consolation, as it turned out: as we arrived, just before we went into the shopping centre, we saw a stunning, electric blue Lotus Exige pull up near the doors. Absolutely gorgeous, with a lovely engine sound. A disappointing day, but at least we managed to have a laugh, of sorts.

At least yesterday was good You should write to Jezzer about the 'elf & safety' and 'uman rights' police. He would love it ;D As for the Thunder Toffee Vodka.....bring it on ;D ;D

Oh dear. Glad you managed to salvage something from the day though. I really feel for anyone who queued for hours and got nothing, they must be heartbroken. All this taking photographs of people and their human rights, my, lucky not everyone thinks on those lines.

Aww....how disappointing. Human rights, eh?? Jezza could rant for days on the subject. ;D I think we could have done, as well!!! ;D Incidentally, there was no mention, at the time, of any infringement of Wolfie's 'human right' to use her own camera when she chooses. Hmm....

Hello I'm fairly new to this site and stil finding my way around. I'm sorry that you weren't able to see Rich at the signing on Saturday - it was mental there and there was way too many people. I was lucky that I managed to get to meet Rich and got a book signed. I had also been to Waterstones on the previous Monday and that was much better. I do hope that you get to see him somewhere in the near future.

Hi!! Welcome to the board. Yes, it's a shame about Bluewater. Hopefully there will be other opportunities!
