Well my initial reaction is that if it is only £12.99 to begin with, meybe it is a biog rather than an autobiog. I don't buy or read biogs because I would rather read the person's own words than the opinions of someone who thinks they know someone. Maybe if James had been 200 years old and it was a historical thing, fair enough.
I could be wrong though.

I think you are right Lew. How long ago did he bring out a book with old DT columns?

Even though the title suggests otherwise, I don't believe it's going to be a proper biography. He's been quite explicit about that in the past. And to be honest, I'm rather fed up with tv personalities publishing biographies when the only thing they achieved is to get their face on the telly.

Has to be DT columns surely. Even Jeremy's not done an official biography.

Well, he did write for other publications before TG, maybe it has something to do with that?

Was that not the book he only did a foreword?

Long Lanes With Turnings was about LJK Setright - James was a colleague of his at CAR, and he was kind of James's mentor, so he wrote the foreword when Setright passed away.
I'd imagine this new book is another collection of Telegraph columns - every two years is about right, and it timed for the Christmas buyers, in the same vein as Jezza's annual collections of columns.

I read it, well I read James's afterword to be more precise. It's a moving homage to L.J.K. Setright, a man whom James obviously admired and respected immensly. In it he says this man taught him how to write properly.
