Thanks for the upload! "the bicycle is often the fastest mode of transport for short city trips" Really? I always love to see the combination of shock, horror and amazement on the faces of the tourists here in Amsterdam when they see the huges hordes of cyclists coming straight at them. Tip of the day in case you ever come over here: Red pavements are cyclepaths. ;D

I loved the bit about the man who runs the BBC car park. I am surprise the sun did not put a picture of him on the bike in the paper like they did with the caravan maybe there waiting for a slow day. I walk up town and in to the next town i would love to go by bike but it would only get nicked.

I shall have a read of this later, but for the moment I'm having a grin because it fits so well with what I posted in the 'Songs that remind you...' thread yesterday I've got a bike You can ride it if you like It's got a basket A bell that rings And things to make it look good;D And talking of looking good, crikey Moses, that's definitely a Look!

I go by bike a lot, as I have no license. Right now, I use the trains, as it's a tad dark and dangerous out there of an evening, but come the summer, I shall be back on the bike, hopefully.

I love that song!
Have you ever heard My White Bicycle by Nazereth? Neil from the comedy show The Young Ones also did a version of it which is very funny.

Ok first of all, that photo is old; we have seen the other one from this set (it is in fave photos)! Secondly, oi May, utter tosh! West London is a nightmare for cyclists on the whole; no drivers appear to have any respect for them so until (like Amsterdam) the drivers face the 'hordes' of cyclists, I doubt this will change. I imagine the only reason this worked out for him was the time element. I agree that they are the way forward... Thirdly the underground is ideal for TV centre as it has a lovely obvious new station on the 'overground' section of the 'underground'. That lad is so stuck in his ways... but it's cute! I would also have to point out this website... www.pbase.com/csw62/india_overloaded_bicyclesIf they can do it (because they HAVE to) then I am sure we could.. but we won't as long as easier ways exist.

Well, to be fair, according to Journey Planner, it would take him 30 minutes by public transport. If it's really only 1,5 mile walking would be faster. And yeah me, my 1000th post!

Congrats Linden on the 1000th. I guess every short journey is quicker on a bicycle.

Cycling in London is the fastest way anywhere and the danger is IMHO largely imagined- my OH used to cycle from Streatham to the City every day and my Elder Son cycled 3 miles to school and back, and amazingly they are still alive!

The question
'I actually need your help. Like you , I had a "pot of many things on the French dresser, and also a "Jar of essentials". My lady had taken out the useful stuff and replaced it with dry smelly flowers. Do I leave her, issue a written warning or just ignore it and start again elewhere in the house.
Please I need answers......
From Chris'
The reply
Dear Chris, I think you have to leave, not least because of the terrible smell. James May on January 18, 2009
