James is quoted in the Observer "Escape" section from Sunday 11th Jan. Theres him and various people from CAMRA, Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guide!
"Which is the best pub for a fireside pint"

Nice piece but he'd better not complain again about people tracking him down to his local - the only thing left for him to do now is hang a big arrow from the sky and go "here it is". LOL

LOL Very true Though I got the impression he was sort-of asking people not to when he mentioned it being a proper local pub that doesn't get passing trade and always has the same people in it. Unless, of course, he's desperately bored of the 'same old b*ll*cks' As an aside, I first came across the pub in a CAMRA related website some time ago, and it mentioned no names but said it was a good place for 'minor celebrity spotting'. I dread to think what poor James would make of that description! More importantly, though, they did say the London Pride is excellent.

LOL Actually someone has already done that, but even if I could remember where I saw it I couldn't tell you, or I'd have to kill you.

MINOR celeb spotting? How dare they... he's a MAJOR celeb ;D
Next time I'm in there though, I shall make sure I sit in the window. The sight of hordes of slightly nervous looking women walking in large 'James-sized' paces in various directions while counting up to 101 will be hilarious...
The Pie of the Day (which is always Steak and Pride) is nicer than the Bangers and Mash....

There will be women all over the place in a 101-pace radius of the pub...

He'd do right well as the owner of The Keys really (if he gave up all his other jobs lol) but somehow I can totally see him being a pubowner

Let's hope no one tries it Although I can imagine someone working what the 101 steps are in metres/yards then getting a map and a compass and then drawing a circle using the pub as the centre point and then hitting all the possible locations. Maybe this is just me I am nerdy

Of course, if you are looking for 'minor celebs' you're more likely to see Bill Bailey or Adrian Chiles in the drinking establishments of West London than you are to see James...

Celebrity is such a hard word to define nowadays. Minor celebs could be boy band member or someone like (insert z lister here)

Have to say though, its not exactly free from passing trade. I used to live very close and I've passed it a hundreds of times in the summer on my way to the river to meet friends in the summer months from the Tube. Although theres lots of pubs with prettier Thameside aspects a few hundred yards away whenever i've passed by (never been in) the front 'garden' has been full of a lovely mix of PYT's sunning themselves and local old fellas.
In the winter i'm guessing its just the old fellas.
And also, why James hold the XKeys so close to his heart. once the sun goes down, the old fellas are still there.

LOL *sniggers to self* God he is such an absolute numpty! We might as well warn him to expect a horde of screaming fans at the bar next time. Me thinks the locals will not be so impressed... unless the footy is on... then they wont even notice!

Still, I think Wyvern is right when she mentioned that this is James's polite and kind way to ask people to leave him alone. Thankfully Hammersmith is not really en route for London daytrippers and other tourists.
