I'm so outraged I've decided to watch Mel Gibsons Apocolypto on Bravo. How did this get past the Censors? It's so bloody, I need counselling Oooops, hang on. I 'chose' to watch it cos I'm an adult

I had a teddy called Pinky too Inks!! I still have it (well he's at my parents ). I didn't realise that was wrong. Oh my. I had a Panda called Panda - is that wrong? God. No wonder I was such a disturbed child. ;D

I think Panda may be OK ly cos they are 'black' and 'white' Hang on though, what about 'pink' skinned people? They could be outraged at us stereotyping bears as 'black' or 'white' ;D What about Red Pandas

I had a teddy bear called Blondie Ted who came from Germany in the 1940s. Was he a dangerous Aryan stereotype?

And Lee Mack's just been impersonating a blind person... maybe the RNIB would like 'a word' with him too?

If I take me specs/contacts off/out I can stereotype a blind person any time. I should complain immediately ;D

I wonder if its to late for James to have his say in his column tomorrow?

Post by Liz on Feb 6, 2009 23:10:44 GMT
Unfortunately, probably yes... I'm sure he'd have his say (unless he's been 'gagged')... *why did I say that?*

Sorry to be a dissident, but disagreeing with someone's political views is one thing, making crude remarks about their disability is another. I'm not saying Jezza should have been hanged, drowned and quartered, but I think his apology was in order and I'm happy he did do so.

I do think the BBC overreacted in the Carol Thatcher case. She apologized and that should have been the end of it.

I agree... Jeremy's far too intelligent to resort to 'personal remarks' in the name of humour, and he's obviously realised this, it's just the fact that he's been vilified for an 'off-the-cuff remark' that annoys me

Much as I love him, I wish he'd just shut up sometimes. It had all started to go away and then he has to bring it all back again. I think he must enjoy living on the edge. Unfortunately in the present climate, it's a very dangerous place to be.

*sarcasm, please bear with me* I just love how these newspapers not only want to have a go at Jeremy anytime he opens his mouth, but bring back past, forgotten (at least I'd put it out of my mind) sins and rub his nose in it. *okay, sarcasm over with now* I love Jeremy to death and think the world of him, but I have to agree with Ly and Linden. He really needs to use some discretion if he's going to criticise and I'm glad he apologised too. I know it's his brand of humour, but I don't want him to get in trouble or lose his jobs for it. I'd miss him if I never get to see him or read his articles again.

I'm seeing Jeremy's face on today's newspapers. The Sun, Daily Mirror. Also a little article in yesterday's Mirror saying that Brown is a 'Scottish....sorry forgot the next bits' And also show a history of disasters from 2004 til last year.

You know, it's really odd. I haven't been online most of this weekend and so I had no idea about all this furrore until Eclair told me about it when she called me this morning. This has not made the news here, for one very simple reason; it is in NO WAY newsworthy. Doesn't anyone have anything better to do?? We have just had the most horrific bush fires in this country in which 66 (at current count) of my countrymen and women have been tragically killed, there are various disasters, wars and the ubiquitous financial crisis world wide and this is news??? I think what is needed is a little perspective.

I know Puss. Our top news story here now are the fires in Australia - so they have at least got that right. It looks horrific out there for all of you at the moment and I hope that the temperatures drop and these fires are controlled quickly.
The problem in our country is firstly our media, which is petty at the best of times and also the fact we have been stripped of our rights and are governed by a nanny-state. It's embarrassing.

We know what you meant Puss and it is terrible. Just heard the number killed has gone up. Heard some poor woman sobbing as she'd lost her house. It's horrible. It puts things in perspective. Just how unimportant some things are when something like this is going on.
