Puss I agree, absolutely and this has hit a nerve. And starting out in the job world (and in everyday) it's amazing that women become bits of meat with no brains. As a family we do party things and on the whole it's women who order and the occasional desperate man who hasn't got a a clue. But the suppliers are mainly men and they have realised that they can't pull the wool over our eyes as I usually don't put up with rubbish and blather. Life's to short, quite frankly. And those who have misjudged us have been kicked up the bum for not realising it sooner and so have lost business. (I did deal with one very unpleasant man about an order we had sold him and he wouldn't listen. So I told him that I'd try and sort out his missing parcel and i'd get back to him in 10mins. And I did within the 10mins, although I had nothing to tell him, and I told him that ;D the silence was golden. However the wife was equally as vile ) Sorry off topic there. But I also deal with schools and parents prefer women to outfit their child and once they know we know what we are doing then they are happy. If I was a man, maybe the attitudes of parents would be completely different. There are still some sexist attitudes and especially with sport, although on the whole men get a shock once they are outwitted. I also agree with misspan and men are visual and very simple creatures and some tend to think with one thing (look at FG and their board for Vicki Butler Henderson's boobs ) As with the blonde girl, she'll have the impact for the show that they want and thank God this is only for television, otherwise we'd be stuffed. I'd like to spend a day with them and show them a thing or two Sorry really long and I'll tidy it up later.

I think you hit the nail on the head Puss, and Misspan. On the other hand, and to be fair and balanced, I have heard the same complaint from men in terms of jobs. As MG has said, they get the same prejudices. One radio station did a discussion on it and men were saying they find it especially difficult to get jobs working with children as people are very suspicious of their motives. And I guess a number of women would rather see a female doctor rather than male (although in my experience this is usually because male doctors, especially older ones, haven't moved into the 20th century yet, let alone the 21st ).

You're right Ly (although I'm very happy with my male doctor ;D)
The people I work with a pretty much all women, no scrap that, it IS all women now, apart from the boss. We've had men in before, and suffice to say a lot of harrassment took place, but funnily enough, it wasn't women to the single man that was there, it was him to me. Probably because I'm young and better looking than the rest of the women that worked there at the time (so you can imagine how bad THEY looked!) he thought I was naive enough to believe everyword he said.
Stereotyping is probably the most insulting thing in the world. But as everyone has said, it would be nice if they managed to find a 'normal' woman to go on TG, someone who has a normal everyday job, isn't in the media spotlight, but does still enjoy all the things a man does.
Madison who...? We can do better than that guys, c'mon!

I like alot of what yall are saying and I agree with it. There is one thing about a work place with more women than men though. Please don't hate me for this.
In my old contracting job, our office was mostly women, ran by women. There were a few guys that worked there and they were really nice, down-to-earth guys. I felt sorry for them because some of the women there would take advantage of them and get them to do all of their heavy lifting and fixing things for them. I never felt right doing that, so I never asked for any favours. As a matter of fact, I was caught by Miss Boss Lady lifting something heavy and she said, "You should ask one of the men to do that for you." Why? I could lift it just fine myself. Besides, those poor guys had their own jobs to do.
End of rant.

I've read this with interest and I agree that it is shameful on a programme that all the lads agree is now a family show not a lads' car show, they have to feature someone who gets her norks out for money (glamour modelling my a**e). We could be wrong, the girl could be a part-time rocket scientist with rapier wit and an intellect to match James's but somehow I doubt it. As Puss says it reinforces woman=young, blonde, breasts, and in some way available (even if only on a page) and we all battle this every day.

A lot of sensible things have been said about specific problems that women encounter in the workplace. But please, let's keep things in perspective. To quote James: "It's only Top Gear"
And remember that we are being an awful lot more sexist about James, Jezza and Richard on this board, than they are about women on TopGear.
I'm looking very much forward to seeing Madison "in action" with James. ;D

AKA it's only Top Gear. and yes we do treat the TG3 as objects. But we've covered a lot of ground and maybe it's time to move on to the next TG spoiler. If you want we could put up a thread expecially for this subject. PM me if anyone would like this ;D TG is arriving sometime in June and they are starting to get short of time.

Hello! I'm new and been reading this thread for a while with interest. Firstly, you all seem really good people and very supportive of each other - bravo! Hope you don't mind me joining in.......
Like many of you, I was, well, disappointed when I saw the hair picture. It's a whole mixture of stuff to do with hoping he's above all the rubbish that many of us find so disappointing in many men. And then I have to remind myself that he's an entertainer as well as a presenter/journalist and what we saw may well be because of the role he plays. Also, frankly, I would be very surprised if he was one iota interested beyond, well, her obvious attributes - he is a bloke after all albeit a very intelligent one!
Yes, it's disappointing that they choose to use a glamour model - I guess it's all in the name of entertainment, viewing figures etc. What men want, some women will always use to their advantage:women have always had to adapt and some have changed into predatory types using their 'attributes' in all the wrong ways. It was really good to read so many of you value integrity!
On a different tack - I don't know ANYONE (except me) who likes James - all my friends have suggested a frontal lobotomy....... they do not understand at all!
Can't believe I'm in on a Friday night either

Hello crumbs and welcome to the board, I hope you have fun here ;D And yes, as you can see we're all thinking the same thing and we're all crossing everything that Andy knows exactly what he's doing and I'm sure he does with the know how of the rest of the TG crew. No doubt we'll see the outcome of this in June, but from what I can gather, James wouldn't have been that comfortable but who knows, we can't see his face but he is gentleman. As you can see, we all like James and varying degrees of lust for the other two and the Stig

I'd noticed there were varying amounts of lusting for all those associated with MC McMaymeister (I tend to think up odd names for him....) I can't say they float ma boat, though I wouldn't mind getting some wine wisdom from Oz. And Jezza and Richard are good value laughs wise.
