Didn't they try to do this once but one of them didn't want to do it or is that just a rumour? I'm sure both Mrs C and Mrs H would be fine at doing it, but not sure about Mrs M. Maybe they should get three good female racing drivers to take them on.

Can I just weigh in on the women not being treated equally in the work force, particularly in the motorsport/car related arena.
Unfortunately, in my experience, the reason why there are stereotypes of women being bimbos, or, ah, "easy" is because a lot of them are. The days where they are sleeping around to get ahead or keep their jobs is alive and well. There are VERY few of us who are there for the right reasons and it is always assumed we will be like 'the rest of them'.
I have fought, and continue to fight, the stereotypes while knowing if I had given into them, my career would probably be even more advanced then it is now but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night, knowing how I got there.
It is unfair to be judged by men because you are a woman, but in my experience, the other women are just as guilty as the men making the judgement.
*end rant*
I would also like to protect Jeremy............;D

I am so with you on that one. At least you have got where you are because of your skill and ability. That gives you a better piece of mind than anything else I think. As for protecting Jeremy, hell yeah!

I know misspan at my last warehouse job there was a part of the job i could not do because i found these boxes to heavery to lift when i was on the step ladder.(there was all so some men who could not do this as well) But there was a few women who would not do any of the jobs on this account or would flert with the team leader to get moved on to a easer job. And guess who was the women who got moved to make room for these women you guessed it it was me. I blame the women for being tarts but also i blame the men for letting them get away with it. If your the boss you should be able to see though the crap to get the job done.

I've been reading some of the news on the portacrapper incident.
My view as a colonial... it kind of says something about the security at the rally when some berks have plenty of time to spot one of the more recognizable Beeb personalities out there, watch him enter a portacrapper, and then pile a whole bunch of tires in front of the door. And I think in one video some turd is seen trying to tip over all four of the portacrappers...that's really juvenile and potentially dangerous to do, you bloody idiot.
And you know, this would have been just as moronic and stupid had it been James or Hamster using the facilites.
You know what, where's the signup for the Jezza Protection Brigade? You can always use some international support, you know.

Smart sensible women who can wipe the smiles off of the men's faces ;D Think the Apprentice meets Top Gear although no firing would take place

I just wanted to make a point about something MG said, which was how we had been talking about this for 12 pages. I think this is because it hits on something that is really important. I'm not talking about the hair touching here, but about how women are portrayed in the media, treated in the workplace and the ideals that young women aspire to. At the risk of going all femo, LOL I think it a bit of a sad indictment that whether this young woman was cast, in irony or not, the fact remains that she was cast because she looks a certain way. She got the job because she is a glamour model, not because she is smart and competent, though she may in fact be. What kind of an example is that? If you want to get on one of the most popular and well watched show in the world, you have to look and act a certain way. Have blonde hair and large breasts as your only credentials. It's not like they are casting a female brain surgeon or a rocket scientist or mechanic. This is my issue and I think everyone elses. I'm sure that it may well be done all in the name of taking the piss out of political correctness but it is inadvertently, reinforcing certain female stereotypes. That in order to get attention you need to look a certain way because that is how you will be judged. It reinforces them for both men and for women. And this is something ALL women deal with on a daily basis at work and at home as many of you have just described. As a woman who works in a predominately male industry ( I work in the lighting industry - an industry dominated by engineers, most of whom are men) and deals with men on a daily basis and who tries (honestly I do!) to maintain her femininity and be taken seriously as an intelligent and talented women, I'm glad that we get the opportunity to be able to discuss these issues, because, even though it might seem like I am over reacting, I think that they are really very important. Sorry to get all serious everyone, but this is an issue I am both interested in and passionate about.

Most guys I used to work with thought I was the queen of the universe because I was all business in the work place, and alot bossier than they were. Plus there was no way in I would put up with their back-talk. It seems you have to know every aspect of your job and be that way for them to take you seriously. Some poor sod came up to me and said, "You know, it wouldn't kill you to smile once in a while." I gave him the fakest smile ever and said, "Does that do anything for you?" and he left me alone after that. EDIT - Of course, it gets very tricky when you're dealing with male customers. You have to be pleasant, but some of them act like you're a piece of meat. It didn't matter what you looked like. *never wants to work at a till again*

If one of my bosses tells me another back-in-the-day story about how they spent umpteen hundred company dollars taking male clients to a strip club for a work function, I am going to have to punch them in the face. *thinks maybe she ought to call a halt to the men bashing after all not all of them are that bad, in fact some are quite nice, though most are annoying *

I agree, Puss. There are some decent men out there. I'm married to one of them. But there are so "real winners" (or weiners) out there too. Listening to the strip club stories made me see red too.

I do agree with you Puss and I know how hard it is to try to be feminine and be taken seriously in a male dominated area.
I have to add one thing though, in defence of TG in relation to just this specific woman/situation.
The thing they were going for with her was her to make James have an immediate physical attraction to her so he would pull over/pick her up/etc. The stereotype of an “ideal” physical look for women, unfortunately, is blonde with big breasts. Had they needed a smart woman for a part, she would not have been cast because there is also a stereotype that blondes with large breasts aren't smart (which some may be). I guess it is unfortunate that, in recent memory, they haven't had a part for an “intelligent” non celeb female to be on the show but perhaps one day they may reconsider.
Men are visual creatures, at least initially. You could have cast a so called “plain Jane” in the part but she wouldn't have had the same affect, because he wouldn't have driven past and gone. “Oh she looks like a nice/smart/caring person, I will stop”. They needed instant “She's hot”.
Ok I will stop rambling..............promise this time....
