The Mole, whoever he is, has a great sense of humour I think! What's the saying 'You don't have to be mad to work here...??'

I think those are very good points Ala. We should look upon her as yet another example of James's incredible sex appeal.

I am a dumb blond i am afraid but i wish they used a women who knew about cars. I had a friend who wanted to be a car Machanic she got top marks in her class for the theory part but had to drop out because no one would hire her for the practical part. She from a farming family so could lift things and could swear just like a man and was not upset by page 3. One excuse was even though she had a license she did not have a car we later learned that they gave the job to a boy who was not even taken lessons. I don't think it helps us women by having women sitting there looking pretty on car shows.

That is really unfair! I know not all men/companies are like that but the ones who are don't do any favours to the ones who aren't.

EDIT - This is in response to Nobody's friend who was passed over by the garages because of her gender - at least that's how I interpretted the last bit of it when you found out who they hired.
It's not only unfair, but isn't it illegal? She could take them to civil court and file a discrimination complaint against them, couldn't she? Please let me know if I'm mistaken.

It's bred in the bone, what men think of women. It's probably just as bred in the bone what we think of them, but we are more objective, obviously. I wonder how they are going to run this? For example, do they get to Mallorca and discover they all need co-drivers, but James, being a gentleman offers a lift to this damsel in distress and she suddenly saddles him with all her luggage which they have to carry throughout the race before he can drop her off. Jeremy decides he needs a man who will match his car. Not sure how I can explain Richard. Or perhaps they all go to Mallorca to report on the rally and find that there are 3 cars which need extra crew. Not sure how I can explain James in that storyline ...

Yes, it is illegal but it would be very hard for her to prove one way or the other, as to whether she had been looked over for that reason, it would just be one word against the other, if you get me, as tragic as this is to admit, it may not be worth yout while taking it to court.

Tell me about it. I was turned down for a warehouse job last year, that is based less than 5 minutes walk from home. When I say 'turned down', I wasn't even offered an interview. I bet they gave the job to some muscly bloke who has to drive for about an hour to get to work. I used to do warehouse work - I still could (well maybe not now, after my illness, but i was fit enough at the time). I just hate this assumption that women can't do certain things, just because they are women.

It is a difficult world still for women really. I do find TG has certain double standards which they like to pass off as a bit of boys-own humour. Jeremy impressed me in the last series or the one before discussing why there are no female racing drivers, and then attacking why they have to take all their clothes off and pose in calendars. Yet there is the annoying big breasted pretty girls in the front row. I'm hoping for their sake it is going to be for comedic purposes all this.

We have a sense of humour too, although they are a boys own programme they need a girls v boys challenge ;D Hmm I've just had a brilliant idea............ (Guys need something to drool over too )

God if there turning women down for warehouse work i will never find a job thats all i have ever done. Tell me about it. I worked in warehouses for eight years. Sometimes, I miss it and wouldn't mind doing that sort of work again later on. Thank you, UM, for the great information.
