Fussy, what did you write? Oh it was nothing really bad. I just put a bit on about the pork pie bit. Then asked him if he'd had any marriage proposals on Friday or if he'd managed to leg it abroad before then! I can see the editor sticking his fingers down his throat and deleting it. Anyway if James read it himself he wouldn't answer me. Never mind!

Bayleaf, I'd be intrigued to see HOW you link that to the advent calendar! I have commented but I bottled out on linking it here . I was going to say that he would look like Dec 24 on our calendar in the nun-like druid's robes! ;D ;D Darn it, I wish I had now! If anyone is interested Sian's comment translates roughly as "English a***hole". I thought it was very rude and ungentlemanly of her to insult him in a foreign language. The mods at the Telegraph obviously had no idea.

I must stop leaping on the poor guy's column as soon as it appears... That sounds really naughty, but I promise I don't mean it that way! It's just that the new one usually appears between my lectures on a Friday afternoon when I'm having some "me" time on the computer... It is extremely rude to insult someone in a foreign language, and just plain not nice (on the plus side, unless I've manage to miss it, it seems to have disappeared now though)

My comment isn't up (yet?) but Sian's is still there - on the Roller Sport button article by the way Wy. She says " Twll dyn bob Saes and you're no exception boyo" Maybe after my comment the Telegraph will delete it. Surely there must be someone there they can ask who has a smattering of Welsh. Here is what I posted: Dear James, To achieve honorary druidism: 1. Promote Wales positively through the media. You would be loved forever. The knock-on effects could even benefit our sadly tourist-dependent economy. 2. Learn Welsh. This is not as difficult as is popularly believed, and would not only give you access to poetry and literature dating back a thousand years and more, but more importantly would enable you to understand Sian’s insulting (and misguided) comment below. You would be in... interesting company. Recent honorary druids: Bryn Terfel (gentlemanly, fabulously talented AND sensitive-haired) Dr Rowan Williams (this caused a bit of a fuss about paganism) Ioan Gruffydd (Welsh actor who got to Hollywood) and... Richard Brunstrom (for encouraging his officers to apprehend speeding motorists through the medium of the Welsh language) Regarding the outfit - the robes include a nun-like headdress so the I fear the effect would be less flowing pagan locks and more Sister Jamea.

That is an excellent comment, Bayleaf. All power to you.
And boo to Sian, who evidently went out to insult not only James but the rest of us "Saes" as well... (a Welsh friend of mine has been using that as a term of "endearment" for me for years)

I used to work in a hobby shop, so I feel it is my duty to point out to James that it isn't all his fault; my employer went bankrupt years ago, unfortunately. God, I miss that job. I was one of the only people there who could work on all the counters. They never had trouble getting the teenagers to work on the computer games side of things, but there were fewer of us who could do the radio controlled models and when it came to railways and Scalextric, it came down to me and a 6 million year old bloke who probably made his first train set out of stones and twigs. I still have a OO set somewhere but the controller's knackered

Little shops - we had loads in my area once. Now it's the same high street as everywhere else. There's hardly anywhere to buy a light bulb in this area now, or paint, or screws in fact. Mind you, a wine shop just up the road would be quite handy.

The same high street as everywhere else - funnily enough, that was something I mentioned in my comment. And then, as he hasn't done so for a few weeks, I quoted "Going, Going". Well, somebody has to

It's like everything is being wiped out that has any significance or personality. Why does it all have to go and we end up left with something that is uniform and bland? That isn't what people want and yet the ones we "vote in" to stand for us seem to think this is the right way. God, I hope we have a big shake up soon or this country will be left with nothing of it's invention, industry, artistry or soul.
