My Grammar School didn't bother with things like 'Typing'. I did Latin and the Classics. However, once I joined the Real World and got a job, that's when I learned how to type. Must have seen word processors and t'Internet coming

Shazzy, I have posted loads over the last, almost ,a year and haven't got on more than about five times. I don't know what the formula is at all , just lucky this one. Nothing to do with intellegence as I was pissed when I posted the first one. I don't know where you are ,but I live in the back of beyond and can't even get the Sunday papers until Monday, I was so excited to find the article when I did, but was caught short by alcohol consumption!!!! But it is a subject dear to my heart I have to say and I did have that conversation last week with my completely car uninterested husband.

It's alright shazzy, I know what you mean. I don't know what the formula is either. There always seem to be the regulars on these columns. I used to get overlooked all the time on Jeremy's column - I actually thought I'd been banned in the end. It sometimes seems to be the luck of the draw or how the moderators are feeling on the particular days they put them up.

Got to agree with ly. I've been lucky to get my replys posted on the rare occasion when I respond but some folk are lucky enough, whatever the content, to get posted on a weekly basis

I felt like saying that I had gone through a similar situation, as I have just dusted off my 25 year old Atari 2600 for the first time in 20 years, but that would date me!! ( I'm 34.) Weezie, I'm 46 and can't quite figure out these computer games, they bewilder me. But you were only 16 when the Atari was released! Surely that's not too old!

There are a lot more replies up for the last few weeks than there were last time I looked! I think the mods must have been a bit reduced over the Easter period. I notice a lot more comments now from many of you ladies!

Ruth's reply to Moby Dick (?) is excellent. Those are exactly the reasons why I like James, too. Well done Ruth (and Taz too)!
Are they members here? I seem to remember that there is someone from Edinburgh on the board.
I hope James reads and enjoys their comments (I'm sure it won't make him bigheaded, he seems too grounded).

And oh joy, he is there with a BBC film crew! My guess is that it has to do with the second 20thCentury series he is apparently working on. The area sort of seems right for that kind of stuff.

Excellent, it could even be a Wine programme? Whatever it is it will be gladly appreciated, we don't see enough of James in his own rights. I thought that the next wine adventure with be the UK or Australia but I can be wrong

Good column. So he's still away. Wonder if it's Top Gear or 20th Century like lindenchase suggested. Whichever it will be fantastic.

"James" has commented, but somehow I get the feeling it isn't our guy. What's your opinion about that?
Portland Oregon? Worst state in the Union. The communists do not let you pump your own petrol. Never, ever, ever spend time in the nanny state, also known as Oregon! Hollywood on the other hand, a very good place for car people. Much better than the homosexual liberal friendly San Fransicko. Nostalgia of route 66, eat at Mel's Dinner on Sunset BLVD. Good food and lots of good scenery- both cars and Women. Posted by James on April 8, 2008 9:18 PM

did he not sign as james may in other columns ? He usually signs James May when he comments. Doesn't sound like him reading it through. Not intelligent enough

And I think our James would know the difference between "dinner" and "diner". Plus, he's just not that nasty about people. Even when he rants, he doesn't usually use that kind of language. The strongest thing I've ever heard him come out with in direct connection with a person who does not present Top Gear was the "sod off" aimed at Bill Bryson Of course, when it comes to commenting about the rest of the TG3, everything's fair game!!!

Thats defo not James. For one, yes, not signed as he usually does, two its not full of long clever words and it sounded like an American the way they called it the 'nanny state.' Sounds like someone with experience!!!

Glad to see you all agree with me. But I find it strange that the mods at the Telegraph let this one pass. The person who wrote this is obviously pretending to be our James. (Use of the word Women, with capital W eg. or use of words like communists and nanny state altough that's more Jezza-like.)

Am i missing something here? Cos to me it doesnt look like he's actually claiming to be James May he's just calling himself James. Maybe it's a chap who just happens to have the same Christian name as our man?
