Is it bad that I read the thing about eating ostrich and laughed so hard I nearly fell off the sofa? And went on a mental journey I couldn't possibly discuss...

I think I know to what you may be referring.
If that makes sense.

I know how he feels too. You think, Oh yeah, I'm staying up really late and by 11 p.m. you're dreaming of your duvet. ;D He can pick me up and throw me in a pool any time he likes. I don't weigh much so his back might just survive and if not, well........ it's too early for that. ;D

I think the rockstar one is brilliant. Jezza knows that the wittiest comedians talk about themselves, their experiences and their observations of people around them. It works darn well for journalists too! Well done Jezza - you well deserve your award.

I must admit i agree with him. I don't want us to pretend to be a world power. I don't get upset because we no longer have a empire but i do get embassies by the way we roll over for the USA i think its time we just step back and let the USA china and Russia have there pissing match over who has the bigger guns why we constraint on things like the NHS something the USA never got round to getting.

Did he really give GB The Graduate on DVD? That sucks for a present. According to what I've read on some political blogs, Gordon Brown's present was 25 DVDs of "American movie classics." Let's just hope for his sake that they weren't Region 1 (for the less tech savvy on here, Region 1 = USA and its territories, and Canada).

Jeremy's comment, as ever, is spot on. The relationship that the UK and US governments seem to think exists is just either a joke or a con. Yes, after WW2, they did 'bail us out' if you want to put it that way but they made us pay for it and pay for it big. The debt that was owed to the Americans was only just paid off in the year 2005 or something. No offence to anyone here, and I mean no offence, but as far as American politics and so-called 'special' relationships go, I don't trust them one bit.

Possibly thow of the best quotes from Jeremy ever;
Even though I know the new style of Levi’s reveals my butt crack when I bend over, I would still never buy a pair of Wranglers.
and
Have you noticed something odd about Rolexes? Especially the modern ones that wind automatically when you move your wrist about? A great many owners wear them on their right hand. I jump to no conclusions here but you can feel free.

The noise that resulted was extraordinary: a bit like Brian Blessed being raped. That's not exactly an image I'd want in my head....but I laughed for about two hours after reading that.

I must be an even worse offender of the name brand, froofroo world. I don't do designer anything and I have no loyalty to one company or another. I usually make my shopping choices based on practicality, function, and comfort. All I really care about in a watch is if it keeps good time and has a working alarm. Impressive reproductive organs, eh? Hm. Not something I needed to know, really. Not being that big of a sport fan also, I can kind of relate some. I've only ever watched my brother's football team when I was growing up, so that's about as far as my game pride goes. He was a great player.

Oohh I go for Chelsea - but only because a guy I used to work with was a fan and I liked the colours of his scarf.................such a typical girl thing to do....... BUT for Australian Rules Football (real football), when I am at a match my team is playing in, I am like another person - my friends want to disown me. My passion takes over and I have trouble controlling my mouth.

Misspan, my Aus mate has been promoting the wonderousness that is Aus Rules to me and I have been utterly captivated by a chap called Aaron Davey. He plays for the Melbourne Demons and I think I am a fully fledged fan now, he just stuns me everytime I see clips of him on YouTube, which is the only place I can see him be great. My mate is also like you, very shouty and passionate. As for football here, I don't follow any local Ulster teams or any team in the Premier League, but I will make an observation and then a confession. I think that of all the teams in the League, Chelsea seem to be the team that can play together best, even if they don't win all the time. They have big names in their side, but they all understand that it is a team game and that you have to play together as a team to get anywhere, I think that some of the other sides, there are people in them that want to try to get as much control of the ball as possible, to try to make themselves look good and the team can suffer for that, so if I had to choose a League team to watch, I would pick Chelsea for that reason. Now the confession. I have always been an avid England supporter when it comes to international matches. It is a childhood thing. I used to watch Grandstand and Match Of The Day with my Grandad when I was a kid and all the people who I enjoyed watching in those games, it resulted, played for England in the international comps. So I just supported the players who I enjoyed watching and that was that, I followed the England team and have been a fan of England ever since. I will stop going on now, sorry.

Ah yes, I know of Aaron Davey - my team is the Richmond Tigers, favourite player is Matthew Richardson - he is gorgeous and a great player. Just wish the whole team would play better I got caught up in the last World Cup, Australia did well until Italy cheated, got a free kick and we lost Still not over it lol

I know how you feel. Something like that happened to England a few years ago, and then they seem to get down to penalties and then pick the worst penalty takers to take them.

He said something similar in one of his other comment columns before - the only reason people emigrate is because they have messed everything up in their own country.
Thanks Vamder. Also, Vander, The Sun bucket folder has been updated with 5 weeks worth of lovliness.

I remember punish work at school as having to write the same sentence 500 time or more. It didn't help and it only made our hands sore. As far as punishments that work on my own kid, all I have to do is take away anything that has a screen and that's a good enough motivator for good behaviour for him. Well, I've already violated the second rule by opening a photo website. So far, no good. This Friday, I'll be violating the first of Jeremy's rules (never meet your heroes). I hope I don't regret that one, because I'm dead scared of it as it is. I've broken the third rule as well. And do you know what. I LOVE ENGLAND!!!

Jeremy seems quite reflective this week, but there's a streak of black humour the width of the M4 (including the sodding bus lane) that tickled me in both articles. It's interesting that none of 'the rules' are of Jeremy's own devising (though given that it's Jeremy, it's almost surprising he didn't include 'never start a land war in Asia' among them - anyone who's seen 'The Princess Bride' will know what I mean...). The only rule I try to live by at the moment is to live in hope but not expectation. It doesn't always work, but I keep trying

Well, I have a couple of 'life rules' myself.
1 - Never share a bathroom with anything that's got more legs than you do. 2 - If it's turned green, don't put it in your mouth. 3 - Don't piss into the wind. 4 - If you don't like it, don't put it in. *
* This can be applied to many areas of daily life.
