The Car Show 11 Mar 2009, 20:00 on BBC Four
Documentary which explores the ways that cars have been presented on television in the motoring programmes that have tapped in to our collective subconscious.
It looks at the classic motoring magazine shows of the 1960s and 70s like Wheelbase, which showcased some of the world's latest innovations and spawned the next generation of programming such as the original Top Gear with Angela Rippon and Noel Edmonds.
The film investigates how more recent motoring programmes changed to accommodate society's view of the car. The new Top Gear and shows such as Panic Mechanics and Stars in Fast Cars reflect a shift away from the traditional car review show towards a more topical, aspirational and spectacular viewing experience.

There was an excellent documentary on the same channel last Wednesday about the Ford Dagenham Days. Very interesting but it all looked so dated

Yeah, that is the one I was looking at. Also, there is one on BBC 4 tonight or tomorrow. Not featuring TG but it still looks good.
And I hope they repeat the Dagenham one soon, I wanted to see that and I missed it.

Missed this the last time.....I remember when Fords were on shutdown in the summer, the whole of Romford and Dagenham were ghost towns. How times have changed

I saw this last time... highly recommended! It's stunning to see the difference between old and new TG!

I can not watch it anymore. Last time I almost threw something at the TV when I saw this Vicky woman. She had no good word over for our boys. I hate her.

It was on BBC2 tonight and, despite the presence of VBH, it was an excellent watch. She is an annoying person but she didn't slag off TG at all. There were some brill clips of a very young Jezzer and many bits of the more recent TG. Murray Walker is always worth a listen too. Jason Plato was also quite funny. Well worth a look if you get the chance

I have throw some stuff to the TV. I should try for ones not to throw stuff to the TV when VBH is on. I hate her.

That lady was a guest on one of Jeremy's old Xmas special DVDs from years ago and I had to FF that bit because she got on my nerves. I don't doubt that she is knowledgable about cars and stuff, but there is nothing about her that makes her interesting to listen to, she just irritates my last nerve.
