Good job, Maygrail! In May 2007 James was a guest in the radio programme Front Row where he was asked to name the best classical music to listen to while driving. [a href=" www.sendspace.com/file/hzlxg6"] www.sendspace.com/file/hzlxg6[/a] I know TopGear has done some cd's. They should have one with James's classical music choice.

Thanks MG that Bach piece took me right back to my CSE Music lessons A wonderful and diverse choice of music. The Jam video made me feel old. Iggy always makes me laugh, not sure why ;D

Just bumping this up a bit so you all don't miss it! Will this be on the Listen Again thing? I might not be able to get it when it is aired.

I wonder how this programme came about? I've been reading some of the sections on here and notice that there a few similarities, you have songs that remind you of James, lyrics that remind you of James. I wonder?

James Taylor Quartet sounds like the music from Captain Scarlett

That was nice. I hope James will do more programmes about music. Like with science, I'm pretty sure, James can get people intersted in the kind of music they normally wouldn't listen to.

Ta muchly MG, I used my recording software, and it worked, but I think the quality isn't too good. Maybe I need to look for another one.

Ooh, MG, can I ask, how do you record your audio? The sound quality is wonderful! I use Audacity which came with something I bought, there may be free versions about. And then I use a lead from the audio out to the line in socket and then record. I think the lead is a double ended stereo jack lead. I'll look for the technical term Edit It is a double ended stereo jack lead, although I've had mine for years and may have come from something I bought many moons ago.

James did mention Wang Chung and his road trip in America, but he didn't play the track.

Slightly OT. I torrented Maygrail's file and uploaded it onto www.thebox.bz. But about a second later the site went down and I haven't been able to get back onto it. Can someone please check whether it's me or whether the whole site is down? Thanks.

That's ok. I've just re listened to it as I had it in the background, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ws delighted when I heard the familiar Jamie Cullum song (to me anyway), and it's true how music can take you back to a moment in time, a place or a person, whether they are good or bad. Although what timing do the Smiths have I do admit the radio was my friend especially when I got lost was running parallel to the road I wanted and it was dark, in the countryside and a bit scary but having a familiar station and some music, probably Robbie Williams, chirping at me was reassuring. I also make compilation CDs each time I find something new or exciting. James has a good solid and resonant voice which is wonderful for radio. It's full of nuances and in a similar way to Stephen Fry is a voice that is familiar and is listenable to.

Not to mention that there is something about his, and Jeremy's and Richard's too, I think, that is very very soothing and comforting. I turned Jeremy's ep of Who Do You Think You Are into an mp3 and put it on my mp3 player yesterday and listened to it on the train. It was lovely, Jeremy is a comfort.

I completely missed this yesterday. Sorry. It was a mostly busy day. I'll have to use a different computer to listen to this. I have to agree with MG and UM. I love listening to Stephen Fry, James, and Jeremy's voices. They're very soothing. I listened to the Magnificant Machines CDs a few weeks ago when I had some spare time and it was one of the most relaxing things I'd done in so long. Speaking of "Dance Hall Days", I'd love to hear James try that one, just to see if he'd do it justice.

Hi UM. It comes as a four disc set. It's James reading his Magnificant Machines book based on his 20th Century show. I completely recommend it, if you love the sound of his voice as much as I do.
