Dont know about everyone else, but I had a grand time - and I bumped into Daisy and Lonesome , and we had chance to have a chinwag, which made it even more special. The weather held dry for longer than the weather folks said, which meant hundreds more people could play ( they set up an outside area for building bricks ) and even when it started to rain folks agreed to be outside and build in the wet. True dedication - or sheer madness? Whatever, if the outside area hadnt been there I wouldnt have had a chance to play - the first people in the queue apparently got to Denbies at 4.00am. I arrived about 8.30 , and the queue was humungous by then - and I was an hour early !

God, it's confusing to have two threads on the same subject. But thanks for the link. As I mentioned in the other thread they have been looking into ways to relocate the house. Let's hope it will all work out. Just a quick question: where does it say this is being organized by Arlington??

Just had a look at the pics. they are great, but I don't think Plum will be very pleased. Didn't they ask the volunteers not to publish anything from the inside of the house? If Arlington put them up, I guess it's ok though.

They did, and well seeing as it's Arlington, who are we to argue with ;D

transmission.blogs.topgear.com/2009/09/18/save-james-lego-house/TopGear.com has joined the action! I must say that 50.000 quid isn't that much. TopGear.com is right in pointing out the Lego itself is probably worth more. I can imagine the architect might be willing to sponsor part of it, James himself maybe... I guess it's more a matter of where to put it than resources. Jezza and Hammond have big gardens.... ;D

The house looks stunning, the whole thing is almost magical to be honest ) Im sure May, Clarkson, Hammond and their celeb' friends could afford to save the house... I'm a farmer somewhere will have a lovely un-used field they could put it in... I hope! It'd be such a shame if it got demolished

And maybe if someone is on FB.....mention the JMB ;D I just joined the group too. And just so you know, someone did mention JMB, so any of you who are on FB, you're cordially invited to join the group as well as help out, if you like. BTW, the pics are very impressive.

Legoland would probably like to have it.
I don't think anyone wants it demolished, it's just a matter of moving it without destroying the vineyard.

According to the group, Legoland can't afford it.

Legoland would probably like to have it. On TopGear.com (see my earlier post for the link) it says that the original plan was for Legoland to transport the construction, to make a permanent display at its Windsor amusement park. But they can’t afford the estimated 50.000 pound needed. I'd love the house to survive, but I don't see how joining a Facebook group can add to that.

Well, it's more or less a petition, but you can donate money if you so desire. Here's the description from the group.
"British Public WE NEED YOUR HELP - we need someone with money and space to become the proud owner of the world's only 2 storey Lego House, that has been lovingly made using over 3 million bricks, by James May and his team for "James May's Toy Stories"

I suspect most of the cost is to do with actually moving the thing... although given that Legoland charge a shocking £37 per adult and £28 per child (HOW ****ING MUCH!!!) to visit, fifty grand seems a drop in the ocean to their overall finances...

I would love to make a donation. But how? I suggested on TopGear.com that they (Arlington? Plum? TopGear?) open an account on www.justgiving.com.
