He's got a little article in the Christmas Radio Times complete with sketches showing us how to create the perfect paper airplane. There's also a little write up on on the programme on the 23/12 page. Here's a snippet:
"There's something irresistible about James May. You sense he's never anything other than utterly devoted to whichever bonkers project is next on his must-do list..........May's cheery enthusiasm, the soaring beauty of his glider and a script that utilises every comedic opportunity..........prove to be a charming combination. A bit like him."
A nice piccie too.

The TV critic for the Guardian, Sam Wollaston, has sneakily posted a bit of a spoiler on twitter, which is not fair really (as we don't have a spoilers bit for the show on this thread). However, I will post his comment with gaps for guessing, and after the programme's gone out at the weekend, perhaps we can have a weeny competition as to which bit he was talking about?
Nice glider show James. Did you really - - - - - - - , or was it a teeny bit staged?

I don't know whether anyone's actually interested in this stuff as no-one's commenting, but here's another article from a model-making firm that James involved in the programme. www.rcmodelworld.com/article.aspx?a=5972

I'm reading everything, honest! I always do.
Even Sam Wollaston's tweets, despite thinking he's a bit of a dork

Reading too. Hope there will be something on the interwebs where I can "borrow" this program so I can join in the post-broadcast discussions.

I'm glad there's someone out there! I get a bit worried after a while if no-one adds a comment. A form of Proboard Paranoia, I suppose!

New - a publicist at the BBC has just posted on twitter to say that James will be on The One Show tomorrow night talking about the new Toy Stories Flight Club programme - 7pm on BBC1.
Chris Evans does the Friday show, so I reckon there will be a good few laughs. The Sky+recorder is set.

Well, what did we think? I loved it - the mixture as before, of course for Toy Stories (and I don't want to give too much away for those who have yet to see it), exciting and moving in turn. I admit to a couple of sniffles and rode James' emotional roller-coaster with him. Simmy is, as usual, brilliant, and the whole team James has gathered round him were clearly swept along by his enthusiasm. Even Sam Woolaston, TV critic of the Guardian, who has criticised James' programmes in the past, has reviewed it as follows (with a bit of snide at the end): Even James May's Toy Stories: Flight Club (BBC2, Sunday) was nice. I don't always see the point of his schoolboy stunts – building massive Airfix planes or model railway tracks from Barnstaple to Bideford. But having spent an unhealthy chunk of my own childhood battling with balsa and glue and tissue paper, only for the results – along with my dreams – to smash to pieces on their maiden flights, I got this one. And James's glider – as well as its flight to Lundy Island – is beautiful. One thing: that on-camera discovery of (removed for spoilers) was a piece of luck. Or perhaps a bit staged? I did ask him, @mrjamesmay, on Twitter, but he never replied. Rude man. Happy Christmas. The only thing I don't understand is why it wasn't given an earlier time slot in the first place, and why the only repeat seems to be in the middle of the night. It's just perfect family viewing. A few caps to start us off.

I wondered if it was staged also, but I can also see him on his hands and knees frantically looking to make sure he had found something on camera. There did seem to be quite a large area for items to be lost easily and he seemed fairly bothered when he lost it (again).

Wondered about the time too, have they realised its the adults who watch as they were the ones who did this stuff years ago? Or was it all the beeping about the boat etc?

They seemed to have a bigger budget this time. Made for a slicker program. I enjoyed it. Still miss the quirkiness of the first season but this was professional and entertaining. It will be interesting to see if the rest of the season is in the same style/vain.

I also understood this was a one-off, but I seem to think I've heard that there was possibly to be another series in 2013. I could have imagined that, though!
James has just responded on twitter to the comment from Sam Woolaston I mentioned earlier (One thing: that on-camera discovery of (removed for spoilers) was a piece of luck. Or perhaps a bit staged? I did ask him, @mrjamesmay, on Twitter, but he never replied. Rude man. Happy Christmas.) with the reply
I found it, but I think the architect guy had put it where I would see it, before I came. I'm not an actor.
then later
Did some asking. The builders saw it but left it for me to find. We cut out a lot of fruitless rummaging, obviously.
And I stand corrected; according to James there is a repeat at a more child-friendly time - this coming Sunday at 7pm on BBC2.

It's James May all day today on BBCA! I thought my husband was watching the stuff I downloaded until I heard commercials. He's been watching Toy Stories all day.

Watched this with my son & now I'm stuck with making paper planes I do hope this is indeed a beginning for a new series since I've always been a huge fan of Toy Stories. Absolutely loved this.

Now that I've looked around, I think I might have imagined there being another series planned. Still, feel like a read a hint of that somewhere. Maybe I'm crossing it with Manlab.

It hasn't shown up on Graboid yet either and I want to watch it. I saw Merlin, Downton Abbey without problem.

I enjoyed the programme very much. I loved the little snippet at the end with the small children (I will say no more in case you haven't seen it yet) - it was so fitting. I also enjoyed seeing him on the One Show - he looked much more healthy.....
