FINALLY got to watch it today. I was also particularly interested in North Devon itself...guess where I'll be in a few months' time. ;D Loved seeing it from the air; can't wait to see it from the ground! Hire a bike Pie and ride the Tarka trail or even better walk it, it is a beautiful walk - when i did it years ago we amde a day of walking it - well cream teas on route are a must and then theres the ice cream ;D

Even after seeing the 2009 attempt I was hooked on the place. It's just my sort of scenery and I'd love to be able to say I've actually set foot on the same soil (well, bitumen) as James and all those trains. Problem is, my current itinerary only allows for a drive-by, basically. But...I might be able to change things around a bit so that I at least have a full day there. Wouldn't want to rush it. That's a distinct advantage about travelling alone - I can change things to suit, however I want! ;D

I watched James' shows on his and his sisters' toys. I found it interesting he never mentions his brother. It just seemed to be him and his sisters playing.

He does mention pulling his sister's Barbie's head off and putting it under the Christmas tree for his brother I got the impression they were reasonably close in age.

His brother David is two years older. His sister Sarah is ten years younger, which means he was the youngest child for quite a while. It must have been a big change for him, when she came along.

I'd always assumed he was the older boy as he was named after his father and grandfather, which is normally the fate of the first born.
He did briefly mention his brother in the first Top Toys, as the owner of an Action Man.

I remember the days of getting my son up so I could take him to high school. Pure hell. He never slept as a child so he made up for it in his teens. Oh well he'll get pay back from his son. Sometimes when I watch James' shows I feel and see his enthusiasm and miss what he's saying.

Sometimes when I watch James' shows I feel and see his enthusiasm and miss what he's saying. I kinda hate to admit I do the same thing too. Enthusiasm is also the same word I use. Oh well, it just means I can watch the show multiple times and still hear something I didn't hear before.

Oops, looks like this conversation has gone on before and Lindenchase solved it...3 years ago. Maybe James may II let his wife have her way with the naming of the 1st child after all she was the one who had to do all the hard work and has any men knows you do not argue with a women who just had a baby. Not if you want any more. Nope. His sister Jane is the oldest child. Then they had David and then James and finally - ten years later - Sarah.

I know I had answerd the same question before, but I also noticed you are both newbies to this forum, so I didn't mind doing it again. :-)

(For those who haven't watched yet, spoilers ahead!)I finally got to watch this episode. I love how he looks when he realizes that his beloved train is going to make it -- such real emotion on his face, in his eyes. Absolutely beautiful. Attachments:

Excellent news for James. May he reap the rewards of his talent and hard work. Now if only his shows would actually hit our television screens here.

It's about time! BBCA has aired Wine Adventures; they may as well air his other stuff too.

I can't believe the programmes haven't surfaced yet. That article was put up in March! Someone's obviously holding on to them.

We in the US should inundate BBCA with requests for more James! And if he became popular enough, maybe he would even do some appearances in the US and we could meet him too. OK, I know it isn't likely but a girl can dream can't she?!

OK, I know it isn't likely but a girl can dream can't she?! I agree, Aero. It's not like he is unpopular over here. Someone at BBCA must have thought people here wanted to see more of James, so they aired WA and Drink to Britain. If they didn't think the interest was there, they wouldn't have bothered. He and the TG brood have been out here to do specials out here a number a times; I don't see why he can't come out here by himself more. He's been out here for (I think) May on the Moon for NASA and Edge of Space (and bits and pieces here and there for some other specials, if memory serves me correctly), but that's it. I wish he would do book signings here in the US. It'd be a good promotion. ;D
