Just heard a moment ago on the headline snippet on the BBC 1 News that the British Motor Show has been cancelled due to the financial crisis.
Not heard the story yet but anyone here got any thoughts?
I must admit, when I heard the headline, I was shocked. I know that the car industry in particular is in severe crisis but I would have thought that putting their best works on display might help them somehow, but on reflection, it may be fruitless. It is a shame that things have come to this but also understandable to a certain extent.
What do you all think?

And there has just been a prat on the telly saying that car shows like Top gear are to blame for the cancellation of the show! What an utter prat! He said that because TG perform stunts on their show with cars, why would anyone want to pay money to see some cars on a stand. He has a point, but OMG, the way it came across, if I ever meet the dickhead I will slap him! TG make cars desirable by doing things like that. I don't drive but ueven I want to own a Toyota Aygo or a Fiat 500 anyway because of how TG promote them!
So, jouornalist, if you are reading this, don't be such a prat and leave TG and the guys alone or you will have an army of angry fangirls to deal with and it won't be pleasant.
Sorry, I have got it off my chest now, though I am still angry.

The odious little man used to be a presenter on TG between 1992 and 1999. Sounds like he has never got over not being given the sack. Tw*t

What's wrong with looking at a bunch of cars on a stand? I watch Top Gear and would still like to look at them. That man is a kn*b.

Who was the prat on the telly? Not Quentin Wilson by any chance or is there another sore loser out of the old TG presenters?

Exactly! His argument has more holes in it than a piece of Swiss cheese! TG promote the cars in a fab way and you watch the show and think 'I would love to see those cars in the flesh' (if you get what I mean) so that will inspire you to go to motor shows.
So, what do you say girlies, should we gang up on him?

If you google 'Steve Berry motoring journalist' and follow some of the links you will soon discover that he is a professional gob-sh*te and there are plenty of people who don't like him very much. He also seems to name drop TG when he thinks it will do him some good - 9 years after he last worked on it Get over it Mr Berry

Oh dear, bit bitter eh? and what an awful comb forward That poor bike he's leaning on. *shakes head* I saw a mighty combover recently, it looked like it had given up half way across the top of the head.

LOL! There is an old man who lives here in the area where I do and one time, while I was in the library, I was unfortunate enough to be behind him in the queue and I noticed that he had a combover.
Now, you know when men go bald, they can have a bald bit on the top and a strip of hair around the back of the head, well that is the way he went bald, only he let the strip of hair at the back grow so long that he was able to comb it forward and around his head and back around to the back again. It looked so strange and the worst thing about it was that he had to use a heap of hair produck to keep it in its place, and he had dandruff.
That was an amazement. How can a (practically) bald man get dandruff, I thought, but there you go, you do see something strange at times and usually they are things that you want to forget but cant. Like his hair.

I went to the motorshow in Sydney in October last year after the Bathurst V8 Supercar race, then the Melbourne one this year before the V8 Supercar season launch and I have to say both were very disappointing. Even though they were still on, a severe lack of manufacturers turning up meant they weren't really worth it. Even the Murray Walker Extreme Machine exhibit at the Clipsal 500 V8 Supercar race had less cars this year, sans Veyron
