Not sure if this is the right place to post this (apologies if it's not) but here is my version/flavour of my day at MPH. Sadly I was sitting too far back to get good images of the boys so I had to photograph the large TV screens. Those going to Brum this weekend have a great time, I'm sure you all will.

Hi all, i'm new here and this my first post. So, Hello! I'll introduce myself formally in a bit. But I have a quick question about TG Live that I hope someone can answer. I've bought tickets for the NEC performance on Sunday at 5 o'clock, and I just wondered what time you think I should arrive? Because obviously, they tell you to take about 4 or 5 hours for your trip but I'm not sure what time to get the train. And does anyone have any idea what time it is likely to be 'chucking out time'. I'm so excited about it, it's the first year I've been, I bought tickets for me and my sister as a christmas prezzie, seeing James up close! I may have heart failure! Anyway, any help would be greatly welcomed and thank you in advance. And hello...again.

Welcome noir4moon. I don't know about the NEC, but with the London one I'd certainly recommend getting there a good 3 hours before hand as you have the car show to see, and it is better to get there sooner rather than later. Hope you enjoy it. Oh, MPH closes at 7.30 p.m. on Sunday.

There is far more to see at the NEC than at Earls Court so I would make sure you get there early. There were three halls with exhibits when I went and I went round them all at least twice. Welcome to the board and have a good day at the NEC

Last year at the NEC there was the MPH stuff to look at, TG Live itself and also the Classic Car exhibition, which was bigger than the others and is there again this year.
We got there at 10.30am and had seen it all and got foot-ache by around 4. So that suggests about 5 hours plus time for lunch/a snack.

I had fun today. I joined a Triumph club that actually does something. Apparently I have two years to get Gerald up to snuff and I can take him on their 'Ten Countries' tour! That should be interesting. Of course, first I had to get past their shock that I'm an enthusiast and a Triumph owner and *gasp* a WOMAN!

I was rather disturbed by how many of the enthusiasts there with their own cars were, well... a bit... stereotypically old. In the way people were in the 70s. Most odd. It was like they'd restored the people to display as well as the cars.

(also, I apologise for whatever I said or did while drunk that I don't remember. I have a vague memory of Paul Swift laughing at me...)

I was chatting with the techies again last night (one of them has a bit of a crush on me, apparently) and I've already been challenging stereotypes. I was asking them about the physics of something they did and one of them asked me what I do. When I told him I'm a final year engineering student, he nearly fell over! He just shook his head and said, "I really didn't see that coming!"

I'm trying very hard not to think that I could be at the NEC this afternoon. I just couldn't afford decent seats for two of us. The silver ones we had last year were useless. Still, musn't complain because I did go to the book-signing last Monday and did get a couple of minutes talking to James - or at least he talked and I mumbled incoherently!

It was Dizzy on the platform, and I got a great little clip of it yesterday. But poor Dizzy got broken today so wasn't in the show this evening I that little Swift!

Hey guys, just a quick message to say that I went yesterday and loved every single minute of it! I wouldn't even hesitate to buy tickets again, I was really impressed with the seats, even though I had only bought silver ones, after the comments some of you made about the crappy-ness of them, I was a bit worried, but no, they were twice as good as I expected them to be. That's what booking early gets you, I suppose. The show was just unbelieveable, really, really amazing. Those of you overseas who are still yet to go, you won't be dissapointed in anyway, shape or form when your day arrives. It was just utterly fantastic! I also have a quick question about the show, but I am aware some of you have still not seen it yet and are worried about spoilers so... THIS IS AN OFFICIAL SPOILER WARNING! DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T YET SEEN THE SHOW!!!!!During the first 5 or so minutes of the show, with the flaming cars, does anybody know the song used for that part (When the dancer has ropes of flame, and the car's back ends are on fire)? I loved it yesterday, but I've got no idea what it is. Anyway, this turned out to be a much bigger 'quick message' than I had first thought. Thanks in advance, Sarah

They used a couple of songs for that sequence and I'm not sure what the first one was. The one they used once the Scoobies were alight was Dragula by Rob Zombie though. In fact, I thought the use of music in the show was excellent this year. The whole thing was so well put together!

Glad you enjoyed the event noir4moon, I too had silver tickets and thoroughly enjoyed the whole spectacle. Like you it was the first time I had been so maybe that's why we thought our silver tickets were so good. Perhaps once you've seen it, then to get that buzz, silver is no longer sufficient, although if somebody offered me some silver tickets for next year I'd bite their hand off.

Loved the show (goes without saying). Unexpectedly saw James signing at a stall late Sunday afternoon and, though it was lovely to see him, the situation was chaotic, with yelling security guards and fans being rushed through for their 10 seconds with "the talent".
James was friendly towards people but detached, and looked dog-tired. The tension made things feel quite unpleasant (while I was there, at least) and I couldn't help wondering what such a nice, intelligent guy was doing in a situation like that

Oh, I've just remembered something. It wasn't the something I was trying to remember (I've forgotten that again) but on Saturday night there was a charity ball at the hotel I was staying in. The emblem of the charity was an ostrich - presumably something to do with burying your head in the sand (or not) - and if people made big enough donations they were given a cuddly ostrich. So by 'incredibly pished o'clock' there were loads of people wandering around the hotel in evening dress with cuddly ostriches about their person. To a group of fans such as ours, the significance of the ostrich is great indeed, so this was extremely amusing

Yes, it's a celebrity's "job" to present themselves to the great world of fandom, but this was so poorly organised, the signing area so cramped and the atmosphere so chaotic and, quite frankly, tense that I left the area shaking my head that it could have been (dis)organised that way.
