I know that I don't post much on this board, and I don't know if any of you really care, but I just wanted to share my good news.
I just bought a house. The deal closes July 15th.
I was divorced/separated 6 years ago and after struggling through all the hardships that come along with suddenly finding yourself a single Mom with 2 teenage boys, paying my ex-husb and spousal support for 3 years, putting my eldest son through University and bankrolling my youngest son's musical career (he's currently on tour across Canada with his band), I've made the jump to the big leagues! I'm still a bit worried about it, but intellectually, I know that owing a house is better than paying someone rent. So, being the eternal optimist that I am, I'm sure things will work out.
It's not much - just a 2 bedroom townhouse, but it's enough for me. Hopefully the 2 boys don't decide to move back home with Mom!
So, the trips to England every year and the shopping sprees for clothes/etc. will have to be reined in a bit.
Also, I won't be able to go to MPH09 this year as I will have to divert all my funds towards boring things like mortgage payments, utilities, etc.
I'll miss you all at MPH this year, but look forward to hearing all the details about the shows and especially the antics that the usuals get up to at the Hilton.

Sounds like you are getting your life back on track, good for you. As my Nan used to say, and this is, I think, where I get it from, 'Take no sh*t from anybody'

Thanks for all your good wishes. Now the hard work starts -- packing --- ughhhhhh Oh well, at least it will give me a chance to throw out all those "useless" things that I've accumulated over the past 6 years.

Out with the old and in with the new. It will be great to throw it all out and start again.

Congratulations. I'm glad everything is going in your favour. Good luck with the packing. That's the part I always hate the most about moving.

Congratulaitions, Canadianfan. Getting your own house is definitely something worth posting about - just ask XJ (when she gets the broadband sorted out at her new place!)

Congratulations! Getting yourself a proper base is a good thing - I hope to do it again myself one day. All the best

Congratulations. All the best things in life are a little scary at first. As Jeremy would say, "How hard could it be?" ;D Don't worry, everything will be fine.
I hope your move goes well. I love packing. I like deciding what's coming with me and how to fit those things into each box or suitcase. I love it.

Thanks again girls. And barbaramol - can I hire you?!! LOL You're the first person I now who loves packing, although I have a friend who really loves cleaning. If I play my cards right, this move could go really smoothly! (LOL)

Having a place of your own is brilliant - even if your ISP takes ages to get your Internet connection sorted out! ;D
