This has been going on awhile, I agree the area is lovely and to plonk housing on here would be like a nasty boil.....lets wait and see, hopefully the government etc are too busy now to think about and it's filed at the bottom of the filing tray under pending.

It makes me sad to think that they want to ruin it, but I do believe something like this was said before, and nothing was done. At the end of the day, it is only a test track, and they can find another one. No, it won't be the same, but new things rarely are. Don't take this the wrong way though, I'm not saying I want them to build properties over the track. I just don't think it's a big deal...

Fair points. The thing that came to my head though was with all the 'moaners' out there, if TG had to move house, would there not be protests over where they could go? There could be a lot of NIMBYism going on.

I'm trying to find the thread we had on this before, because the thing is, it's not just where the TG test track is. It's a historic airfield, and it's also the home of the local Air Ambulance. Additionally, it's in an area where the local infrastructure is in no way equipped to cope with the building of a new town, and the people in the surrounding areas don't want the town built because of the impact on the environment, traffic levels and local resources.

Ahh, then that makes it a big deal. I didn't know that. I stand corrected. Thank you Wy

Thats northing round where i live the council sold some builders some land which might not be there to sell. And the oldest building in my town was accidentally pulled down to make way for flats.

How can a building be 'accidentally' be pulled down?

Well it was a pub that had been shut down after it 'accidentally' caught fire when the owner was short of cash. These developers brought it got planning permission for flats but the day they started to pull it down the history society got a court oder to stop it. But by the time word got though to the building site that much of the building had been pulled down it was unsafe to leave what was left standing. I think the council said they made a mistake like that time they council 'accidentally pulled up this hedge which was protected by law that was stopping them building on this field. The only good think is with the down turn there now going to build a Alidi on the site which not only mean my town finally gets a decent supermarket alidi is the only shop i know that wants full time staff.

If they built houses over the test track, would that not mean the people living in the houses would have planes flying over them?

I live under a flight path. There are more planes now than there used to be when I was a kid but I don't live too close to the airports so the planes are not that low when they fly over but they can be really noisy!!!!!

They probably would do, unless they closed down the airfield altogether.

If they built houses over the test track, would that not mean the people living in the houses would have planes flying over them? Yes unless they moved where the planes would go to. It depends where the flight path goes. I don't know how frequently small planes actually land at Dunsfold but because of its history with the war it would be a shame if its history was forgotten. I don't see the buiding going ahead as Wy said the infrastruture round there is woeful.

Well if it is that bad, infrastructure wise, why is the proposal even being considered in the first place? Doesn't make much sense to me.
