Top Gear: your female presenting team Top Gear fans will be celebrating the return of the series to BBC2 this Sunday. The nation's favourite motoring show is beloved of lads and ladettes alike, yet it features an all-male presenting line-up. So what if Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May were replaced by members of the opposite sex? Who would you put in the driving seats?
In a recent survey on RadioTimes.com, we asked you to name your ultimate female TG trio. 1,793 of you responded. So who did you choose?
To stand in for Clarkson - "The Bossy One" - you picked acid-tongued Weakest Link host Anne Robinson, closely followed by deadpan comic Jo Brand.
Fearne Cotton would be your Top Gear eye candy - replacing Richard Hammond, "The Cute One" - only slightly ahead of former Doctor Who star Billie Piper.
And taking the place of James May - "The Thoughtful One" - on the winners' rostrum would be Joanna Lumley.
Meanwhile, some less popular - but no less intriguing - suggestions included Ann Widdecombe and Katie Price as Clarkson, Alexa Chung or Sandi Toksvig as Hammond and The Apprentice's Margaret Mountford and TV nun Sister Wendy Beckett as May.
The top ten choices for each presenter were as follows:
Jeremy Clarkson - The Bossy One
1. Anne Robinson 2. Jo Brand 3. Janet Street-Porter 4. Sara Cox 5. Ruby Wax 6. Davina McCall 7. Denise Van Outen 8. Sharon Osbourne 9. Vanessa Feltz 10. Trinny Woodall
Richard Hammond - The Cute One
1. Fearne Cotton 2. Billie Piper 3. Cheryl Cole 4. Myleene Klass 5. Suzi Perry 6. Amanda Holden 7. Vicki Butler-Henderson 8. Dannii Minogue 9. Natasha Kaplinsky 10. June Sarpong
James May - The Thoughtful One
1. Joanna Lumley 2. Carol Vorderman 3. Fiona Bruce 4. Jodie Kidd 5. Kate Humble 6. Gabby Logan 7. Kirsty Young 8. Christine Bleakley 9. Mariella Frostrup 10. Kirsty Wark
So, do you think Robinson, Cotton and Lumley would be worthy replacements for Clarkson, Hammond and May? If not, which women do you see as the boys' female counterparts? Post a comment below and let us know.

Oh yeh, I'd love to see the whole TG team replaced......there would only be one more series and then it would go down the pan Out of the entire 30 ladies on that list, I can think of just two that should be on TV more imo - Jo Brand and Kate Humble. The rest and some of them I have honestly never even heard of.

Oh come on, where is your sense of humour? It's a joke, girls. Nothing serious is intended. If you have to look for female equivalents of the boys, they have done pretty well. Opinionated "don't take hostages" Ann Robinson for Jezza, cute Fearne Cotton for Richard and classy Joanna Lumley for James. It's spot on. ;D ;D On a whole different matter, did anyone read the article about James's Moon Adventure yet that is in this week's issue?

I agree Lew, some 'jokes' aren't funny. I don't even know who the majority of those people on those lists are!

Some one was bored this week Most of those women have been on TG but as hosts they'd be shocking. Although saying that seeing Magaret from the Apprentice do a spoof for TG would be brilliant

She is quite School Mistressey, seeing her try to control the chaps might be a good laugh too.

She is quite School Mistressey, seeing her try to control the chaps might be a good laugh too. I'd love to have seen her as a SIARPC, but now she's left the series, I'll doubt if that's going to happen.

She may be a dark horse and quite enjoy something like that but she does seem quite regal.

Esther Rantzen for Jeremy and me for Richard (I'm small and dark just like him and that would save the BBC quite a lot in salary as I would do it for very little compared). ;D And how about Jennifer Saunders for James.

If I was two foot taller I could be Jeremy, apparently I can be quite opinionated. (Bloody teachers, what do they know!)

What a grumpy lot... I think that's hilarious... ;D ;D
(not sure how well any of them could manage a supercar in high heels though...)

Is it possible to drive in heels?

Apparently. Although I'd imagine there is less control and grip on the pedals than in a flat shoe. And it would bugger the heel of the shoe, I expect.

Yeap, though it's only the right foot heel mostly that gets trashed

Yeah. Lady I know used to keep a pair of shoes in her car and change into them before she set off anywhere. They were proper shoes, but the looked a bit like flat leather slippers.
