Sunday evening and it's another TG.
The SL Black Merc looked interesting on paper - as all Blacks do, the power was remarkable and what a disappointment. Jeremy does his homework and the stones did look more comfy. And a consumer outcome. Well Done. It was too torquey and I'm not surprised it wasn't any faster. Good to see the SLR back.
The filming was remarkable but the helicopter shots made me feel ill. It was too whizzy and felt like the cameraman had been on something.
The news - very funny and the Camaro handbag. No. Handbag made of a victim's skin - just no. The car sauna was rather stupid but proved it's not a good idea. Maybe Gordon should listen to Jeremy. So much in it as per usual.
The small cars around Parliament/Canary Wharf. A Myvi? that's an ice cream/lolly. What silly little cars Proton, Prostate and Caravaggio (can't be bothered with names, soulless little grot boxes) and thank god they got binned. But the demonstrating was fab. Not to be recommended readers.
Just because you have to get a small cheap car doesn't mean they have to be a plastic rollerskate.
SIARPC - GENIUS!! Michael McIntyre (tyre = car = already brilliant) He was fresh and enthusiastic. Best SIARPC in ages -bloody mayniac and crazy but brilliant. (he's an acquired taste I know but what I needed after an increasing crap week)
Ken Block - mad, genius and what a good idea to send James. Stupendous driving and eep. Amazing camera work and styles.
The best small car continued
The Alfa Mito, Skoda thingy Roomy Roomster and Toyato iQ all interesting.
But isn't it incredible: all the dogs resembled the presenters. The scruffy Irish wolf hound, the big slobbery Great Dane and the hairy St Bernard aka Beethoven. Good challenge but what they should have done was try to drive with a cat in it's carry case. Much harder as cats usually chat.
All interesting choices but really the Fiat 500 or Ford Ka (I know I'm biased but I mean the new one) are better and surprise in Notting Hill loads of Fiat 500's with all their lights on. Hope the batteries didn't die.
The disclosure at the end
'Some animals were harmed in the making of this programme.'
No doubt they were referring to the team.
Overall a solid TG, nice to see a car test and something a bit different by including the Ken Block film. Wonder what he would do in a shopping centre? Nice slightly calmer TG after the first 2 manic weeks.
NB: Return of Blue flowery shirt
