What a lovely review Doofey, I am so glad that you had such a rewarding day. I can personally relate to a lot of what you said and much of it touched me greatly. I therefore confess that by the end of reading your account a tear was welling up in my eye, partly in happiness for you and partly because of my own personal experiences.
P.S. Loved the line about the guy who said he'd married the wrong women. ;D

I'm disappointed I didn't get to meet you Mystik and I also missed out on meeting Misspan. I was lucky enough to bump into the other 3 lovely ladies at Circular Quay. They recognized me! I was too busy looking at the gorgeous views. Sounds like you had a great night Mystik. That drunk guy added to the entertainment! Gee Jezza might go easier on the grog if he thinks he acts like that when addled. I'm really glad that everyone liked my review. I must admit the end did cause many tears. It just help highlight how grateful to these guys!

Would anyone happen to know the name of the song towards the end, it was quite heavy, oh damn and blast can't remember enough details. Well does anyone know where I can get a list of the music played during the show?

Well does anyone know where I can get a list of the music played during the show? Which bit? If you have the same show as the UK, I sat with my iPhone using 'Shazam' to find some of the tracks during the show on my last visit in Birmingham - if you let me know which bit of the show it was in, I might have the name of the track saved. Don't read threads much but PM me.

Alright, Here's the proper review. On Friday: I wake in the morning at about 4.15am. We were supposed to wake up at 4, but Mum slept in cause the cats didn't bother her. We had to catch a flight at 6.50 in the morning. Anyway, we got there with plenty time to spare, but the terminal (we went with Tiger airways, Dad and I) was far from everything else. The flight was alright (but I'm not that good with takeoffs, my eyes go all over the place) but there is no space at all for anything. Got off the plane, at first I thought it was the jets that created the heat but then realised it was bloody hot in sydney and I was in leggings. We made our way down to the airport train station: $20 to get to Central and then to Meadowbank on the Northern Line (we stayed at the Metro Inn on Victoria Road in Ryde). And I thought our transport was dear. The trains were pretty good and massive comapred to the ones we get in Melbourne (double deckers). Some have air-con and the rest are saunas. Can I just say, how hilly Sydney is? I think I might have lost weight from the amount of the hills we had to walk on. We eventually found the hotel we were staying at (alright but could have been better). Then we made our way down to the Paramatta River to catch a Ferry into the city. We got off at Circular Quay and made our way to the Opera House and pretty much nearly died from walking and no water. After reading Doofey's review, I kind of regret not meeting with other JMB's, but I didn't want Dad to tag along in this heat. In fact, we might have seen each other anyway, if we were all around that area in the morning/afternoon. Once we found something to eat, we were engulfed by the chaos that is the public transport system. You need seperate cards for train and bus (in Melbourne it's just the one ticket) and there are so many different buses going in different ways, but we made our way back to the hotel. That night We got a cab into the venue (man, it was expensive: $31 for a 10km trip) and checked out all the stuff around it (very expensive food and got endless supply of Berocca). Took a lot of pics of the cars and then spotted a girl at the Top Gear Magazine stand with a T-shirt that had a pic of Richard on the back and then I got a glance to see what was on the front and it said "We miss you Richard". After seeing the show, I did miss him. But then, I spotted the Top Gear Australia magazine editor, Stephen Corby. I really wanted to talk to him, but he looked busy and I was shy so I didn't . (Don't look if you don't want to) We made our way into the arena (as everyone took shelter as the rain started) and watched endless repeats of ads of Top Gear and their sponsors. Finally, it went dark. Then they had some BMW come out to advertise shell. And then two Evos come out with a girl in leather and started doing some bits and pieces with fire, such as the cars on fire bit. Then the two blokes that Doofey saw at the Hotel came in Utes (james in Ford, Jeremy in Holden) and the crowd erupted. I was so excited and couldn't believe that they were there right in front of me: And I couldn't get a proper picture out of them because they're all blurry. Anyway, back on topic. Greg or Grig came out in his Commodore and tried to be all Hammond, but obviously he failed but not that bad (he just sounded fake that's all). The first thing was the Fords turning from grey to white with some heat machine thing (can I just say the lighting effects with the holograms and all that were great? It's just that the loud explosions and stuff and pyrotechnics were well, loud). That was good and then they went onto the Garden inventions and I can't remember who won but I seem to recall James said something about finding all the stuff in Bunnings Warehouse (My dad works there and hates it). Then there was the Japanese bit with the drifting Toyotas/Nissans? and the Swift doing donuts on the platform. Finally, there was the Cool Wall and Jeremy saw that there were vacant seats in the first row and said that they broked down in their Alfas. They had on two BMWs, a Rolls Royce, Lotus Evora, an Aston Martin in black and another car but can't remember. Then Jeremy took over the camera when he wanted to show his view of things (such as the works of the define potter). I'm losing my memory of what was where. I remember the Ken Not Block and the Jet Bike, but I do remember the SIARPC race, which we were rubbish and I ruined my voice from it. Jeremy pointed out that he saw someone on the audience on their phone while they were doing it. And then there was the Reliant Robin race and Jeremy and James both toppled a lot. It was good but I would've preferred the Car Soccer. The finale was good and loud, with the Stig doing his thing out there and going upside down. And then that was it. Dad and I then made our way (the longer way) to the entrance to the Paddock Tour. It was crowded but at least there was stuff to look at. Once that was done we got out of the venue, bought a tee and into a thunderstorm. We made our way to the Olympic Park station which was ages away and along there we had a free shower from mother nature (didn't bring umbrellas obviously). By the time we got back to the motel from walking from the station, we were knackered. It was a stuffy night and with uncomfortable beds and all, didn't sleep well. Saturday: just a quick run down on what I did: Out of hotel, walking for a long time, found a half-complete shopping mall and got breakfast, went into the city to find our second place to stay (which was worst than the first joint), went to the Art Gallery, had a curry for dinner, went on the monorail twice around, got to see what kings Cross was like before it got all lively, found out that we were to leave Sydney in the morning not at night, slept restlessly, got up and got out of the hotel, got to see what Kings Cross was Like after it got all lively, made our way back to the airport on train and onto a Tiger Airways flight to Melbourne. Overall, I had a great (weatherwise not so) time in Sydney and I just want to thank my Dad for giving me the opportunity to see the excellence that is 2/3 of Top Gear. Sydney is nothing like Melbourne: They drive differently, the rules are different, the transport system is different, the culture is different, I have never seen so many Asians or Korean restaurants in my life (I'm Korean just so you know) and never felt so excited and sad at the same time. Must travel more often.

No worries. Oh yeah, one more thing. Those ushers were photo nazis! while I was taking shots of the Supercar parade (which I forgot to mention) I got told off and I didn't have my flash on :@ I know you weren't supposed to take shots but still, people can't help themselves, you know?
Oh and the humidity was just terrible. And this is what it's supposed to be when I'm in Vietnam.

The humidity is bad - but it was worse when I was in Hong Kong. I hate the Sydney locals, they don't seem to drip with sweat like those of us from interstate lol I went to the 11am show today with free tickets and I think it was better than the Thursday night show. The crowd responded better and there was more of a vibe. I am going to miss them after seeing them three times in the last 5 days Wish I could have met you other girls and seen the others another time. There is always next year

They were photo NAZIs. One lady got told that they would have to get security if she took another photo! You pay a lot of money so one or two photos wouldn't hurt.
With any luck we might be able to catch up next year, Misspan.

I have a friend who works front-of-house in a West End theatre, and she says that she is always having to confiscate cameras. The reason she has, though, is that there are a lot of small children in the show, and it's (apparently) to stop, ahem, the sort of people who *LIKE* children from being able to take pictures of them. It's a creepy thought, but these days, you have to be so very careful.

re photos: it really helps when you turn the screen off your camera. then you can shoot all you like (well, I did, at the beginning, but to be honest, there wasn't that much worth shooting with a small camera because it was all moving so fast, and they were a fair way away from the main seating bit. Oh well.)

Sounds like you all had a brilliant time! What a bummer that you're not allowed to take photos though! I wonder why not, when you can at the UK shows?
I think the paranoia about taking photos of children is getting a bit out of hand now. I took a couple of photos of a bunch of teenage kids messing aboout on the beach near Surfers Pardise and a bloke came running up threatening to call the police. It was just a photo of kids doing the sort of thing we rarely see in UK any more, that's all! It scared the crap out of me and really upset me!

Mum and I had a very in-depth (well not exactly in-depth!) discussion about TG Live. We believe that first of all they should do 3 shows in Sydney and 3 shows in Melbourne and all 3 presenters should come next year. They should do a show more closely resembling the telly show. Like have the news etc. I personally think it would be more of a hit.
What does everyone else think?

I think all three UK presenters should come - the Australian audience doesn't enjoy it more because we have a "local" to relate too or that can "pick on the Poms", we want to see the three presenters we love.
I don't mind it being in Sydney only - good excuse to go up there haha
