Ladies, I have in my sweaty little paws the book. (bigger than 3cm) It's heavy but sadly there are no pictures from the studio (although that could be for the separate book) and no thank you for the studio elves in the acknowledgements either aka the small print. The elves who had lost blood, sweat and a few tears making everything else which went into the garden to make it a garden.
I can't help feeling a bit disappointed by this but there are still the DVD extras.

there is a brief mention of Twickenham and how the soil was made but I will properly read it later on, to make sure.
There was also a lady called Judith Blacklock who advised James about flower arrangements and went to the huge flower market in London. That wasn't in the programme but in the book.

Well, I guess they only use about half of what they film. There were some dissapointed airfix fans as well who mentioned on their forum that they had been filmed, but not included in the programme. I'm glad that James at least mentioned at least a half dozen times in last night's episode that the projects was made by the "Great British Public". ;D About the dvd, isn't it a bit weird that the dvd will be out before the last two episodes have aired? I guess it won't influence the viewing figures much, but still. I'm hoping for extras, but it doesn't say anything about that on the cover, so I'm not convinced there will be any.

Thank you linden for looking on the bright side It's more that on that day we hung around until quite late to have the filming done and Plum had called up saying they needed lots of bodies in the studio to make it look industrious. Plus those who came back day after day and took home stuff to do.

Plus those who came back day after day and took home stuff to do. A friend of mine is a documentary maker and she often tells me of her heartache at having to cut out scenes. Maybe it would be wise for Plum or any other production company to warn people beforehand that the odds are even on ending up on the cutting room floor.

It's more the fact that the photos that were taken were 'meant' to be used in the book - and by the sound of it, not one of them has been Not to mention all the lovely things that were made and not even seen in the garden - on the last day, those of us who were there made some birds to go on the tree, and one girl made a beautiful ginger cartoon cat that, IIRC, never saw the light of day. I want to know what happened to my lil robin that made me very sad, when I saw the empty bird nest in the tree.

Yes I do realise this. But some of the other people who were there possibly were not as aware of this especially in a pressurized environment to ensure you hit a deadline. For most it was fun but hard work, just like the lego project (this is covered in the book) but because it was the first project it was a learning curve as well. For some it was tiring as well as fun and hard work but not to have a a line thanking the people who volunteered at the studio as well as the Ideal Home Exhibition it's at best a bit thoughtless.
Considering without the volunteers in the studio and the team from Plum, the garden wouldn't have been made including the grapes vine components, the lawn, the leaves, the vegetables, the pond, the bridge, the rose vines, the bugs, the gnomes. Yes a lot of flowers were needed but without the other components you have a floral display not a garden.

Guess what the postman just delivered two minutes ago.... !! To be honest, I think the cover is absolutely awful. But the book itself looks great, it will keep me occupied for the next few days. (Although you can see they had to do a rush job. I already noticed two pics in low resolution. ) And as a small comfort to all of you who worked so hard: the book is dedicated to "everybody who joined in". Edit: I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't got the book, but if you do: turn to page 53 now. ;D ;D

Yeah. At least you'll always have the satisfaction of knowing that James remembered your hard work.

Well, spoiler alert in case you haven't got the book yet......
It's a pic of James back from 1999, where he has short hair and is a bit chubby.
Men do get more attractive when they get older. ;D

And James is proof of that although the 1999 vintage is still cute

Apart from the short hair and the extra weight, please notice he's also wearing a plain white shirt.
