I feel a bit sorry for him in that HIGNFY - he was up against 4 comedians/wits on top form, batted in early on only to get knocked back by Merton and the chairman ("Which school did you go to, James? Was it a girls' one?") and tended to let them get on with it from then on. Just catching up on this thread... I thought he got a bit overwhelmed, too: that seat next to Merton is usually the most dangerous place to be. But I loved his reply to the question about his school: he said, 'Well, there were girls in it. That's why I turned out as well as I did.' So he managed to change a silly jibe into a compliment to women. He's such a sweetheart!

Man Lab is on next week!! Channel 9, Tuesday 10pm. I can't believe it! Now, it apparently goes until 11:05pm. So does that mean Channel 9 are ditching the ads? I'm interested to see what massive chunks of wonderful viewing they get rid of...

This is a first for James .. being on a big commerical network. SBS has always being so loyal to James and if not for SBS we never would of known James or Top Gear. not too happy the big corporate w*nkers have got hold of this i like to keep it Pure!! ;D i just love SBS too much. has given me so much May Joy!! i look forward to it but its gonna be weird on Nine!!

Yeah I agree! SBS have been great and now 9 is likely to stuff the whole thing up, like they've done with TG. They're obviously trying to amalgamate the two shows, like they did last year by airing Richard Hammond shows straight after TG. It'll be interesting to see how an Australian audience reacts to Man Lab. It could go either way. Obviously with a crap timeslot they won't get many viewers, but somehow I think it'll appeal more than TG because it isn't as "British" (e.g. on TG, so many of the cars that are showcased aren't even available here). And Man Lab doesn't already have a following here like TG did when Channel 9 got it, which ruined it's niche status. Less feathers to ruffle this time around.

Let's see how long it takes for the repeats to surface.

Thanks Pie, It's good to know that channel 9 are on the ball and showing season 17 eps not too long after the UK. Knowing channel 9 they will probably throw in repeats or perhaps they learnt their lesson after showing season 16. Will have to try to stay awake next Tuesday and watch Top Gear and Man Lab and see how many ads they throw in to annoy viewers, hopefully they read the feedback from earlier in the year.

Bum.
When I had my Sky+ box replaced last week, the only programme I couldn't save, and inevitably the only one I can't get on DVD, was Inside Sharks.
So I go on this thread today, to read with delight that it's on Sky 3 on Saturday night!
Then I looked at the date of the post. 23rd August, 2010. For some reason the first page of the thread had come up instead of the third.
Bum.
Double bum and sulk.

It's a bit late to pass this on, but it's Top Gear day on Dave today (Bank Holiday Monday) - Bolivia, Middle East and Vietnam, plus a couple of random episodes. I'm watching on Dave ja vu, so it's on till 10pm, except for a Dragon's Den at 8pm.

If you own an iPad and live outside the UK, you might want to download the free BBC iPlayer. It lets you watch some stuff for free, among which James May on the Moon! :-)
You could also fork out about €7,00 a month and subscribe and watch all content, including a lot of TopGear. Snatch here is that you can download stuff to your iPad, but you won't be able to watch it anymore once you end your subscription. :-(

Last night on BBC America we had 17/2 which didn't seem to be over edited from the UK version. Then they showed Bolivia which was cut in strange places. They didn't show the scene of Jeremy reading about the bugs. It was like a whole new episode i places. I have season 14 on DVD and just watched the other day with commentary.Apparently no side effects from the viagra according to James. Who does the editing, the US or the UK on BBC America?
