Had a lovely time today - was great to see James so relaxed (or perhaps he was hypnotised by his own jumper...)
Sadly, as others have observed, there was a certain amount of lack of decorum from at least one person. She is no longer a member of this board as far as I know, but I suspect she'll read this and get the hint: that sort of thing is just NOT ON.

I had a really good day today, all reports I have read on here about James being the loveliest guy ever are totally justified. Got there about half an hour early and when we got in headed straight for the airfix table which got very busy so we were lucky to get straight on there I think. After a few mins we saw James looking at the Hornby and then he came over to the table and was sat chatting to some of the kids. One of the organisers asked if anyone had finished their model and my OH had and he got it signed by James!! So lucky lol. The Q&A was really good too, James was so witty, and had a really good banter with the co-author guy. OH sneaked in again here with a question lol. All the toys there were really good we had a go at all of them apart from the Meccano. We waited in the queue for the book signing for 50 mins but it was well worth the wait. OH said to James that I'd been waiting a very long time for this moment (was I embarrassed or what lol) and James said not for too long I hope (*thud*). I got a lovely picture with him too ;D. I didn't see anyone being overly loud towards James but I agree with the rest of you that that sort of behaviour is not acceptable. James deserves to be shown some respect especially after he signed everyone's book and was so lovely. It makes me quite annoyed actually that someone claims to be a fan of James but behaves like that towards him. If anybody wants to see my pictures they are here: www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=174986&id=614004777x

The accent was quite a stonge one, very broad, almost like a Geordie or a Scouser, whatever it was, it just wasn't very nice to witness such a show.

Hey Cat you got some lovely photos and it looks like you have had a fab time - so cool. Looks like James had a great time too. I particularly adore the "James posed for this photo" picture of him looking very startled - SO GOOD! I did want to add a comment on your Facebook album but it wouldn't let me I guess cos we're not friends on there?
I loved the little plasticine person too - did you make that?
And as for the person who casued the disturbance... well.... they can not be a real fan or they would know how to conduct themselves in public and particularly around James.

I REALLY enjoyed it yesterday! My mum did too! I think I know who you mean about someone throwing themselves at James! He coped with that well! I did think that the Q&A was good but they got in a bit of a muddle at the start they could've introduced James a bit better! Also because of it being in a hall it was very hard for me to hear some of it because of the background noise, good job i can lip read! LOL. It was a BRILLIANT day and well worth the 200 mile trip! Think my mum enjoyed it as much as me if not more! James was very nice when I talked to him as he always is the few times I have spoken to him! I want a collection of all the stuff now esp the Meccano and a Scalextic (something I have ALWAYS wanted but have never got!).

Certainly the person I saw is an ex-member, so is, I'm afraid, outside of your jurisdiction. Shame I didn't have a stun-gun on me: she's not outside of mine... ;D

Your photos are fantastic Cat, thank you for sharing. (I wish I could have gone!) Glad everyone had a wonderful time even despite the disruption, I honestly don’t know why some people behave like that. Don’t they realise they are making fools of themselves??

It seems to me that the more famous he becomes, the higher the possibility of some unfortunate woman losing her marbles/cool and launching at him. Such people lose their grip on reality I feel and therefore control. I know it's grim for him as he is so aware of his personal space, but it does come with the territory sadly - most famous people get doses of it.
I would love to have gone. I would not have had the guts to talk to James, but I'd have loved to have played with the toys!

Even in the shots with the model airplanes, he looks like he's barely restraining himself from wading in and telling someone how to do it properly.

Stay safe James, from we who will always continue to love and respect you x Hear, hear maidofastolat, I couldn't have said it better myself. Just why do people behave so badly, what are they hoping to achieve? It so spoils it for others but I'm gald those of you who did go had a great time. Excellent pictures Cat, thanks for sharing and for making them accessible to those who don't have a facebook account.

That's the reason why I'm kind of crouched next to James because I know he's not comfortable with people getting too close. I would have loved nothing more than to give him a nice big cuddle but there are ways you should and shouldn't behave and you have got to show respect for people

Hello I've been really ill since coming back from London (James withdrawal, perhaps?) so I haven't been over here since the Toy Fair. Looking forward to reading people's comments - and looking at photos. Hope you all had a fabulous time on Saturday! www.flickr.com/photos/honeyfitz/sets/72157622900338506/
