Quiet news day is it I agree with the comments TG3 do a lot for the forces, supporting Help fo heroes etc etc as one of the posters said light relief for those guys and gals on the front line.

We've seen the photos of their last trip out there and it really boosted the troops. I don't see anyone else risking their lives to go out there, to raise awareness, to be a patron to a charity to help these people when they have been horribly injured. The government, and the public, were all to happy to turn their backs on them because of where they were fighting. I hate this sort of journalism.

There's a story in the Metro today - a girl found an iPod on the tube and when she had a look at it, she found it was full of pics of the TG3 in Afghanistan (I think) with the guy they think the iPod belongs to. They've put the story in the paper in the hope of identifying the soldier in question and the TG office and the MOD are helping to figure it out. I'm glad it came up now, because it's a nice reminder of the flipside to the forces doing things with TG - TG doing stuff to raise morale for our troops when people who probably should be really aren't.

Sadly, TG is easy pickings for the wrath of journalists. Whatever equipment was used I bet it wasn't diverted away from the war zones. The troops need to practice in the UK and they need equipment here with which to practice. Come on journalists any short fall in equipment is down to the government not the BCC or TG.

I agree with all the 'good training excercise/morale' comments but, just as importantly, with the post remarking that in order for TG to arrange these stunts, they would naturally require the permission of the MOD!... So, given that, if the request is accepted, the grievance (if any) should lie with the MOD, not TG?

It's funny, because in the States the various branches of the Armed Forces will give movies and television shows the use of their equipment (and soldiers) for free if they feel the message of the piece is sufficiently friendly towards the military. The idea is that it elevates their image and promotes recruitment.
There's also a group called the USO (United Service Organizations) that sends care packages and sponsors entertainment for soldiers who are stationed in war zones, on the grounds that it improves morale.

I know for the SG1 dvd movie the US Navy did a scene where one of there subs bust thought the ice. I bet that cost more than any thing TG have done and i do not remember hearing any complaints about that.

just read this, defense member Willie Rennie, our negihbouring local mouth off tw*t.... how fun that he gets his 2 pence in as usual....
do they not realise it pubicises the army as well and promotes them as being a good sporting bunch as well as being well trained and showing them on mainstream tv will HELP promote them?
as an ex soldier from the black watch, i love watching them on TG, its great to see them helping them out and joining in the fun as well..
look forward to more blowing stuff up and range rovers being shot sometime soon lol
