Hello all.
Something very disturbing has happened to me over the last few months, and has only become worse after Top Gear Live.
I've started noticing Richard Hammond.
I never really found the little gonk attractive before. I could see the appeal, but he didn't push my buttons at all. Too cute, too young, too... short.
But then his rather evident mid-life crisis started. His hair got terrible, he started to let the odd wrinkle show and somehow he's become a little bit more... not mature, exactly, and grown-up isn't a phrase I'd associate with any of the TG3. Let's just say he got a bit more 40ish, but in a good way. Perhaps I relate to his looming birthday panic, I don't know. Anyway, the upshot is that whereas in the past I wouldn't have, these days I would.
So has anyone else had this problem? I've noticed it has happened on a couple of other websites I frequent. I never wanted to be a pervy Hammond fancier, but it seems he gets to us all in the end!
This is a place for all those who have recently been hit by the 'that short bloke from the Morrison's ads is alright, actually' bug. Please let me know I'm not alone in this!

Welcome to the dark side.
Anyway, I found Richard of the long hair kind to be growing on me a lot more than usual. I wasn't really warming to the long hairdo for a bit until last year, but his aging is what you call subtle. I don't mind crushing on a 39 going 40 but really is 10 year old who has wild hair, flare jeans, cowboy boots, leather jackets and the odd but sentimental bling. It's just I don't tell anyone I really like him.

It is true. Especially now he's had the locks a little trimmed. I found myself looking at him last year when I went to the recording and then this new series........ Time for a rename. The Hammond Board. ;D

For me, it was the opposite. Hammond was the gateway drug into full-blown May addiction.
Because let's face it, he's got the symmetrical features and the sharp little nose, and of course the gigantic Bambi eyes, all of which would be easier to dismiss if he were just an insufferable twerp. But he isn't. He seems genuinely sweet, and so does Mindy.
Makes it hard to read articles about his crash, it does. I feel something twisting inside saying "Oh, poor little man. Poor Hamster."

I like Hamster - he's a really jolly chap. But I don't fancy him - don't know why cos on the face of it he's very handsome, he just doesn't flick any switches. Those friends of mine that are aware of my,erm, thoughts of Mr May, cannot fathom why it's not Richard I fancy - and sometimes neither can I!!!!! Hey ho, there you go!

Oh dear. I might have just squee'd out loud at a Morrison's advert. And I still love his dodgy rockstar hair when he's at the meat counter, and I so bloody would.

*sighs*Me too....I think I admitted it over on another thread. But Wy, it was the Morrisons ad that got me at first too. It just scares me because recently I have found myself looking at him more than James But I will always have a place in my heart for both of them This is the moment that did it for me..... ;D *faints*

I actually prefer his hair a bit shorter and choppier and mid-life crisisy but there is something about that shot... *sigh* And I love how neat and compact he looks in those tight long-sleeved t-shirts he's taken to wearing. Very nice indeed.

I thought Richie was the gateway drug. He's a super duper hottie. Not nearly as fascinating as James but how could you not want to take him out for a spin.

I must admit that for the first time ever I looked at Richard (on TG on Sunday) and thought 'Wow. Richard is looking quite hot these days'. I've always thought he was "cute". Kind of like the "Davey Jones" of TG. But he has never really done anything for me. Not that he really does anything for me now...I just think that I now see more of what other people see in him. It is still all James for me though! ;D

I agree 100%, Chariset. You said it perfectly. The reason I got into James in the first place was b/c of Richard. I still like Richard and never really stopped. If ever I get a screen cap of Richard and James in it together and they both look good, I keep both of them in it; I don't crop Richard out simply b/c I like James more. My interests over time just shifted, from one person to another. Richard strikes me as the kind of person you meet at a bar who is very down to earth, humble, and friendly. He wants to make sure everyone is having a good time and knows how to have a good time anywhere he goes and is a truly likeable person. There doesn't seem to be anything false about him; he doesn't stop being who he is once the cameras are off.

I do have a confession to make....
Richards looks exactly like the first man I ever loved. Hair, eyes, teeth ( ;D), age, even the height (which was a big problem for me being 6 ft.)...
And I just cannot look at Richard thinking about that man...
The love just died and we never saw each other again, but wow it was FUN!And I can help wondering if that particular man now still looks like Richard, or maybe he has changed completely.
And ladies - I really don't know where he is, so don't bother trying to find him through me ;D
