Picked this up on FG:
"Originally Posted by The North Devon Journal
THE Top Gear team were in North Devon throwing a vehicle off cliff faces in their latest TV stunt. Presenters of the BBC series, Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond were spotted in Hartland with their camera crews in tow. The team were seen chucking a Citroen car converted into a camper van off the steep rock face at the Quay in the picturesque coastal village.
Louisa Morecroft has run the village shop for four years and took her children Daniel, 10 and Elouise, 6, to see where they'd been filming. She said Clarkson and Hammond were leaving as they arrived, just after school had finished, but they saw May drinking in the Hartland Quay Hotel. She said: "Daniel is an avid Top Gear fan and was extremely excited — he just couldn't believe it. "He got his picture taken with James May, who was really nice. But, there weren't many people who knew about it, it was a well kept secret. "There has been a lot of excitement in the village about it and a lot of disappointed people who didn't get to see it, but everyone is looking forward to seeing it on the TV."
The village of Hartland isn't a stranger to film crews and featured in films Sense and Sensibility and Solomon Kane. Louisa said even Will Young was spotted having a drink in the village three weeks ago.
It's not the first time the Top Gear men have hit North Devon. Clarkson and the Top Gear film crew came to Instow in November 2008 to film a part of the show. Clarkson was taking the new Ford Fiesta for a spin on the beach, while 30 Royal Marines, including some from Instow and others from 40 Commando, based at Taunton, and Plymouth's 539 Assault Squadron, fired at the car and helicopters flew overhead. May also brought North Devon into the spotlight when he tried to construct the world's longest Hornby model railway between Barnstaple and Bideford. Although the attempt was not successful some 400 local volunteers showed up to help build the track and the programme was aired on Christmas Day".

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR............. I thought I'd got myself on the reserve list for the 2010 summer series but somehow I must have missed the deadline.
Looking at the Applause site they are now inviting people to go onto the reserve list for the Winter 2010 series so at least I'm on that one. Just how one is supposed to keep up with the way they are now running the ticket lottery is beyond me. I am sure that I tried to add my name to the summer list several months ago but the system told me I was already on the list and yet I've not received an e-mail.
Oh well, good luck to all who are in with a chance for the 2010 summer series.

I tried to get on the winter reserve list tonight, filled in the registration form, got my e-mail with the sign-in code, tried to sign in, only to be told that there was no record of any of it.
I've e-mailed them about the problem, but I'm not expecting a speedy reply. Bummer.

I got the email yesterday asking me to choose a date, but this has happened before so I never get my hopes up.
But in a way I'm hoping I don't get it this time because in my rush to do it I have only just realised I put down the day before I graduate in Lancashire.......which is helpful!!

The TG3 were, apparently, in or around the Aldershot area yesterday, according to a mate of TOH's, who saw them as he walked to his local shop. He was unsure of what exactly they were driving, but says they were expensive looking cars ;D

I didn't think they would work over a Bank holiday weekend. I suppose it all dependes on availability of sites they want to use, availability of presenters etc.

If they were in the City of London, wouldn't it actually be quiet over a bank holiday anyway? Might be the best time to film.

I dare say what day of the week it is, is irrelevant when it comes to filming

I live about 5 miles of Aldershot.

Thanks for the welcome jacqui but how do I get to the next level, i.e. casually bumping into them whilst they are filming, now that would be an elite club *sigh* guess that's never going to happen. Never say never Brycegold you don't know what's round the next corner!

My work had a competition last week, where the winners got two tickets to the filming of Top Gear next month with all travel expenses paid by the company. You just had to donate to the charity the company supports to enter and could enter as many times as you like. I entered a few times, but the draw was yesterday and I haven't heard a thing. I'm in work later so will check but I don't think I even had a chance. Pffft.....

Heh... remember a throwaway line in one of Clarkson's columns about how James wants to do an intellectual, thought-provoking piece on physics or engineering but Clarkson won't let him do it unless his pants fall off midway through?
