Knowing how dependent TV programs here are on advertising revenue, I'm curious to know how this will work.
Maybe it'll end up being more like Mythbusters than Top Gear.
You know, lots of crazy stunts involving cars without really talking about specific car brands.
We shall see, I suppose.

Top Gear US starts tonight at 8PM Mountain time. I'm going to watch it. They are going to Texas. Hopefully I won't fall asleep.

Well, you should have seen me in the audience for the Sunday show but alas, I came down with a fever last weekend and had to give up my tickets. Figures.

Well I watched it, didn't fall asleep. They are trying too hard. There's the Hammond running into everyone, Tanner reads the challenges and Rutledge is the big guy. They were in Texas with cow sh*t. I didn't see Stig, no guest, just the Texas film. I think it would be better if they didn't force it I know they'll rerun it. Why is it on the History channel? Were they the only runs that would run it? I think it should be on Speed. I wonder who the director is. They should have the guys come here and do a 70's challenge. Hammond would feel right at home. They've got a ways to go, but overall, I thought it was a vast improvement over last season. It seems somebody had words with the presenters and said, "Your chemistry is awful - hang out together and get to know each other."
Rutledge didn't come off like a wooden plank, where even non-scripted comments seemed like he was reading off a cue card. By the end of last season, I thought he was the most likely to be replaced - now, I'm enjoying him.
I like Adam - I always have. I love the snark. And Tanner didn't seem so aloof and off-putting.
So I think there's hope. It's got a long way to go, it's not Top Gear, Original Issue, but it's getting there and I'll keep watching.

watching the top gear USA for first time...... its awful. Maybe its because im comparing it to UK top gear, or expecting it to be the same but it is not ticking any of my boxes. The presenters seem to like each other too much as well, i always felt the slight animosity is the key to the great team dynamic, plus they are taking it way to seriously. Dont think i will watch again

I think I'm going to be the odd one out and say that I don't find American Top Gear to be all that bad.
Yes, a lot of their challenges are such obvious rip-offs of what the guys in the original did, and the chemistry was really not there for a lot of it. Plus I tend to spend a good chunk of every episode hoping that Rutledge gets killed and eaten by whatever vehicle he's using for that episode. I can't stand him and was sincerely hoping they'd replace him with someone who doesn't suck after S1, but no go. I actually hate him more the more I watch the show.
I did like the moonshine episode, and the episode where they went from Detroit to Marshall MI. I grew up in that area, I recognized damn near every location in that episode, and the tanking US auto industry is something I'm a bit too familiar with, what with at least half my family having worked for it in some way or another, myself included.
I think I went in with absolutely low expectations so I wasn't too upset when it turned out to be not as bad as I was expecting it to be? I don't know.

It's funny how it divides opinions so much. I've just seen the first episode and it reminded me how much I miss things like the montage at the start of the series that our guys just don't seem to get time to do any more (or when they do, they end up getting it wrong anyway). OK, it was very much a remake of our TG, but it's a franchise show, and that's the whole point. I think the lineup lacks conflict, but I understand that mainstream American humour is more egalitarian than ours, and having everyone 'onside' is quite odd to get used to (funnily enough, the moment I thought worked best was when Rutledge and Adam ganged up on Tanner in the Lambo film - taking the p*ss works, guys, do more of it). Then again, I really like Rutledge. He's like a bear about to hibernate

I like Rutledge, too.
I have a hard time liking Tanner. Yes, I know he is "The Driver", but he is so sissy to me.
Adam just needs seasoning.

Watching the second episode, it's amazing how much they've got the hang of certain things. Rutledge has been very rude about the British and compared the Aston Martin V12 Vantage to a Hot Rod (and he actually has a good point) ;D
You're getting there, boys!
