Bryony Gordon, the journalist who wrote the article is formerly one of the 3AM girls and usually writes articles about vacuous 'celebs' and fripperies like make up. I suspect she looks awkward because a nice, normal bloke is speaking to her without trying to flirt with her or shag her, despite the ridiculously low-cut top she's chosen to wear to interview him, and also probably because the photographer will, a few moments before the pic was taken, have instructed her to straddle the motorcycle with a sneer and jokes about other things she may have straddled... I am just catching up with these articles...........ouch, beckstar! You don't mince words! ha ha. ;D

Well done Dit, nice work. Can somebody please tell me why that lucky lady looks so awkward sitting behind James? Bryony Gordon, the journalist who wrote the article is formerly one of the 3AM girls and usually writes articles about vacuous 'celebs' and fripperies like make up. I suspect she looks awkward because a nice, normal bloke is speaking to her without trying to flirt with her or shag her, despite the ridiculously low-cut top she's chosen to wear to interview him, and also probably because the photographer will, a few moments before the pic was taken, have instructed her to straddle the motorcycle with a sneer and jokes about other things she may have straddled... Someone on f*ckyeahtopgear on tumblr asked " who is the woman on the back of the motorcycle? His girlfriend?" After reading what you said... that DEFINITELY isn't what James looks for in a girlfriend!

Speaking as a lapsed pianist (my piano is sulking in a corner of the study, gently detuning itself in a vain attempt to attract my attention) I found the Moonlight Sonata piece fascinating and hysterically funny.
The first thing that had me off my chair - "a piano is a piece of furniture and must be overcome as much as played. Do not let the piano sense that you are nervous." I wish someone had told me that when I was six!
The second, to which I responded with a bark of laughter was "You have already performed the first bar of the Moonlight Sonata; or, to put it another way, the first four of just 276 beats making up the entire movement. Have a drink." I wish that final option had been offered to me just beforeI gave up lessons at the age of eighteen!
This was a very cleverly (as usual) writen piece that had enough technical detail to appeal to anyone who already plays but was written in a style that non-musicians could appreciate.
The piece also made sense of something to me; when James plays the Moonlight on Big Ideas he looks up and smiles into the camera, which apparently makes everyone's heart melt, but it's never quite worked for me. It seems a bit too cheesy. Now we know- that's the point at which he always looked up at the girl he was trying to seduce, and that's why it seems a bit false to me, he's practised it a bit too much! (and doubtless been successful!)

So that was probably an apologetic smile.

I'd love to play a duet with him.......

Yeah, James has arrived. Well, at least his book did. I won't spoil it for the rest of you, but you'll love it when you see to whom and why he dedicated this book. It's so cute.

Can't wait for the first news story of a dad having to deliver his kid and thanking James for the advice. ;D One of my mates had her baby delivered by her hubby, as she went into labour very very quickly. As luck would have it, her OH is a GP, but he was still pretty freaked out by the whole event. ;D

Actually, I thought James made a very good point about childbirth in one of the interviews today. First Aid and emergency training involves learning numerous skills for swift medical intervention, but such training has never included learning how to deliver a baby or babies, which could potentially become just as much of an emergency, depending on the circumstances.
After all, it isn't as if the process can be stopped once it's started, and sometimes it all happens very fast! Therefore, why not teach it to the general public as well as medical personnel, just in case?
