I love after the outrage from the gay rights community the BBC responds nonchalantly with "the remark was cut from the broadcast because the interview had to be edited down from 25 minutes to nine." It's all a matter of time and space! Fantastic! ;D Alistair Campbell is such a w*nker!

It's not even all the gay community. I have a lot of involvement with LGB issues, and most of us think it's a case of overreaction because people are so worried they might 'offend' someone, they don't listen to the essence of what's being said. Actually, we all have the right not to be 'bummed' against our will...

I suppose the outrage is the "if you get near a gay man, he'll try to hump you" line... but for crying out loud, why get upset over something that wasn't even broadcast? You might as well read his mind and be unhappy over what he's thinking.

And yet you're not allowed to get cross when radical feminists come out with the 'all men are rapists' line, even though that's patently b*ll*cks.
This whole thing blew up because Alastair Campbell, who made his living making sure that things got arranged to present the last government in a certain light, didn't like it when the BBC edited him to present his interview in a certain light. He only likes the media when he's in charge of it.

It's still odd. I remember in the previous news article about Campbell he said he thought the editing was "perfectly fair." In fact, it was relatively flattering (I thought) and you'll notice there were fewer booes when he left than when he entered.
I don't get the British press. They're just looking for a reason to be mad and lo! they find one. I can see how Clarkson could tread on someone's nerves. He gets on mine all the time. But this is an utter non-story and it doesn't prove anything except that Jeremy will let his mouth run when he's got a friendly audience and knows it won't end up on television

You'll have to admit thought that Stonewall's Ben Summerskill's comment was pretty funny: "Surely the reason Jeremy Clarkson doesn't want to get bummed is that he needs somewhere to speak out of." ;D Come on, if Jezza would have said it about someone else, you would have found it hilarious.
