Forton services is only about 2 miles from Lancaster University, though I can't imagine the BBC (or James) being involved in a stunt around his degree day as clearly that was very personal and special to him.

If the suspect’s race suit looks somewhat different to that worn by the Stig, it is unlikely be the Stig. The Stig’s race suit looks very much like that worn by the Stig.
Can't argue with that logic...
