Yeah, I thought he was just disgruntled by the fact that he was suggesting cannibalism. Not manly this John Campbell. I also came across this other interview I found on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVtugj2Kp9U The interview was done in March.

Yeah, I didn't like the news presenter at ALL. So patronising. James was thoroughly hilarious, though. ;D

It's mainly that he calls him "naughty boy" twice. WTF? I wouldn't call a 12 year old that, let alone a 47 year old successful author and presenter I'm interviewing.

I think if John Campbell tried, he could have been a bigger ass. Disgusting? What's disgusting about survival? I think he was just pi**ed off because he realized when flipping through James' book, that he himself was one of the ponces James was talking about. Completely useless and proud of it!
More hair care products than hair-raising tactics!
Loved the second interview though. The broadcaster was well-informed and well-spoken. Except, I must say, for the phrase "my friend" which he used liberally.
James conducted himself with dignity as always! ;D

For some reason, I can't access the Campbell interview; it just says the page can't be found. Has it been removed already?! No problems with the second one, though, which was very good.

No, it still doesn't work for me. It just says, in a rather long-winded but witty way, that the page can't be found. Bummer.

I got that earlier but its working for me now. Sorry I know we are not supposed to swear but that man was such a thingy. And was James hair tied back?

I actually enjoyed the John Campbell (that's spelt Camp bell!) interview. Yes, Campbell is mildly irritating but essentially he's verbally almost flirting with James and James takes it and responds on the same level.
I particularly liked, "You naughty, disingenuous boy" from Campbell, and James didn't even blink.

At last I've got this to work properly. No idea why it wouldn't load before. C'est la vie and all that. "Everyone's such a bloody whoopsie these days". Love it! ;D

I've actually found an earlier interview with the same interviewer which is one of the best I've seen with James - he's in full flight and obviously enjoying himself. It's from February, when they were in NZ for Top Gear Live. At the start, James is responding to Campbell's theory that TG's popularity is "all to do with tribalism and identity in a bland and secular western world" and has asked James if he thinks that's a pile of crap. www.3news.co.nz/Full-interview-with-Top-Gears-James-May/tabid/367/articleID/142288/Default.aspxThis version is better than the one linked to the right of the page as it's longer and you never see the interviewer, the camera's on James all the time so you see all his reactions. Very expressive hands here too.

I actually don't mind John Campbell - at least he's got a bit of zest to him. I mean, James could've been interviewed by Kerry O'Brien instead. Or Laurie Oakes. Imagine that. ;D He's so brilliantly poker-faced. "(Duelling) is a very good way to sort something out without getting bogged down in debate and bloody letters and emails and, ultimately, litigation and courts and lawyers. You just shoot at each other and whoever loses doesn't get the parking space, and then you can move on. Saves a great deal of time and heartache...especially if you're dead." ;D Edit: should qualify for non-Australians...Kerry O'Brien and Laurie Oakes are journalists who are, in my opinion, about as interesting as gravel. Cluey, but completely boring.
