Or record the repeat of Upstairs Downstairs in the early hours of Wednesday morning. All three episodes clash with something for me!
I suspect the chances of me watching TG at TOH's Mother's place are about as high as last night's temperature, which was -8!

I would normally record U/D to watch later - but can't as I'm recording TG! And I just can't not watch TG

And I just can't not watch TG I'm lucky that I have a free view box that lets me watch one channel and record another, and when my old TV broke the new one came with built in box, so I can now record two channels and watch a third ;D

Was my previous post invisible, or is a recording a repeat of U/D not viable for some reason?

Oh, they are going to be in so much trouble! Can't wait to see the Daily Mail in the morning!
Brilliant, brilliant programme on so many levels. Would love to know what everyone else thinks.

The baby stig was so sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Have a feeling with them wearing burka's and turning Jesus into the stig, they will have found away to bring Islamic nutters and Christen nutters together in complaining. Even though I enjoyed it, It was not my favourite special but I can't say why.

Oh, they are going to be in so much trouble! I agree! I actually decided to count how many complaints I thought would come out of it, and lost count after about 238 (slight exaggeration, but you know what I mean!!!) It still hasn't beaten my all time favourite, Botswana, but I think on second viewing it may make number two ahead of Bolivia. Loved it. And the ending was PRICELESS[/b]

Very funny! ;D ;D ;D ;D

The passport thing isn't that dodgy - I've got two for exactly the same reason that they had, and it's perfectly legit if you go about it the correct way. I agree with you on the Baby Stig tho', and I suspect the Burkas will be a MASSIVE issue, especially after the complaints that Jez got when he mentioned one in the news in S15.

Oh, they are going to be in so much trouble! Can't wait to see the Daily Mail in the morning! My thoughts exactly! It was never malicious, but they're probably going to offend about a million people with that. I hope Ofcom have braced themselves. On the other hand, I bloody loved it! I thought that was lovely, fantastic, entertaining and I'm sure that the TG boys would be horrified to realise that I actually learned things about that part of the world I'd never really understood. Feelgood telly that actually did have something to say if you wanted to look for it.

This might seem a bit odd but I had a frighteningly thorough Church of England background as a youngster (as, I suspect, at least one of the guys did) and there were a lot of little references that were very precisely Biblical. You would have needed to have Sunday School, 'A' level RE or both to pick up on all of them. Very clever.

I've got (and still do have) a very strong Methodist faith and was killing myself laughing at a lot of the references. Suspect I need several views to catch them all though!

I believe he go into a fight once about who was going to be head choir boy and got 50p off his dad. ;D Wonder what his Mother thoughts on the matter was?

The weird thing is that I'm almost militantly secularist, and yet the reason I didn't give this special top marks was that there were a couple of moments where the religious references made me a tiny bit uncomfortable. I can't even explain why, because I wasn't offended or anything, and it didn't spoil my enjoyment of a fantastic show - just a couple of moments of 'ooh, not sure about that...'

That's what I suspect makes me go 9 rather than 10 - but rather more James getting hurt.
I do feel that there were moments that were a bit over the edge. I personally didn't find anything that was a problem but I could, objectively see that some might.
Couldn't help wonder which of the guys are aethesistic/agnostic. Now.
Can see a possible CofE rejection as I've been there myself - but it does leave a certain sensibilty.

I suspect there may be more complaints related to the burkas than any Christian aspect.
It was brilliant, though a bit more Israeli scenery would have been nice. The Golan Heights really are lovely. It's almost 25 years since I went to Bethlehem, when it was very much in Israeli territory, and it's sad to see all the huge concrete walls with barbed wire on top there.
Racing round the hippodrome made me cringe more than anything else but so long as they didn't hit anything, I suppose it's OK. I'm probably just jealous...
How long does it take for Stigs to grow up?

That was great viewing. Not in epic awesome viewing like Botswana and North Pole or Bolivia, but it's up there.
If it weren't for the wars, it's definitely a beautiful place to go to. The scenery somehow reminded me of Arabian Nights. Pity the religion/politics issue made it a bit complicated, but thankfully they tried to keep it on track.

Why would they go to such a war torn country&pretty much put their lives on the line,i gasped when the guys took of their armor things, Thankfully, not the whole of Iraq is a war zone anymore. The part they were in when they took of their armor is safe enough to do so.

I'm sure that the BBC researchers would have checked out the situation VERY carefully before letting the guys anywhere near the place! After all, they don't really want to lose one of their most successful presenting teams that way just yet!
OFCOM might, but not the BBC!

The part they were in when they took of their armor is safe enough to do so. It's kind of the point they were making, isn't it? We think it's all like Baghdad and Tikrit and Mosul, but in large parts of Iraq, people are getting on with their lives. The thing is, people talk about war zones, but by definition, that means there must be areas that aren't in those zones. I'm glad they showed us a different part of the story from the one we usually get on the news.
