Hi, yea, I agree with you on that. Dogs ARE the best creatures on the planet and actually every animal. Ahhhw, hehe wow, well, it's good that Benjamin is still so playful!! Take care!

Aww all of your dogs are so adorable! As well as my cat I have a dog called Harry. The first two pics were taken when he was a pup He's about 18 months old now and as mad as a hatter! This was taken when we went to Coltswold Wildlife Park, he loved looking at the penguins! ;D He always manages to get on my pillow

Aww, everyone's doggies are so gorgeous! They really are the best companions (don't tell any cat people around here that I said that ). I wonder how aeromanda's going...

I wonder how aeromanda's going... I feel so bad, we had to have our collie dog Ben put down a couple of years ago. He was 13 so it was a good age and he had a great life but its so heartbreaking when you have to let them go....

Thank you for asking. I have made an appointment to have Shakespeare "put down" this Thursday. My husband wants to be there so we had to find a time that fit his work schedule and the vet's schedule. My husband usually lets me handle this sort of thing on my own so I knew when he said that he wanted to be there that it meant a lot to him. It will be very hard for both of us but we know it has to be done. When we are there I plan on talking to the vet about Josephine and what he thinks about when we should put her down. I did think about taking them both in at the same time but I just don't think I can handle that. So we will wait at least a little while with her depending on what the vet says.

aeromanda, jes*s, so harsh..... but sometimes that's the best thing you can do for the animal. I wouldn't know what to say else, all I can say is that I've been there, although never had to loose two dear companions at the same time.... All the best to you and yours!

Thanks again to everyone for the advice and the well wishes. I just got home a few minutes ago from the vet. We had Shakespeare put down. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. It was very hard. He has never liked shots and has always cried when they were given to him. And he cried a lot this time. The first shot only sedated him and the vet had to give him a second shot. The vet said "Leave it to Shakespeare to require a shot for a dog that weighs 40lbs." He only weighed about 17lbs. I responded "That's because he was really a husky. He always insisted he was a big dog." I had the vet tech. take one last picture of us with Shakespeare and here it is.

I wish I could give you a hug right now aeromanda. My heart goes out to you. And I know there's nothing I can say to make you feel better. It takes time. I saved that picture to remind me someday to do the right thing when I need to do it, like you did. [[[[[{{{{Love ya!!!!!}}}}]]]]]

I know exactly how you feel, aeromanda, having had to have one of my cats put down a couple of weeks ago, and all I can do is send warmest hugs and huge sympathies.

Fiero and I!! We "had" to look after him for the second time, a whole weekend this time though instead of one day and it went so well.... used to small dogs since 10 years and I thought I'd never wanted a big dog in my life ever again, but I'm quite sure now that one day I'll get the biggest there is from an asylum..... Such dogs are real dogs instead of those little barking little ones and no one wants a big dog from an asylum anymore these days.... so sad.....
