I love this. I do wish James would make a full length musical proramme. I've been saying something like that for years. Bring it on! I always thought a series about the history of music, presented by James, would be great. Music history can be divided into distinct eras, so one era per episode could work very well. Come on BBC, get on with it!

Baroque seems to be his favourite music period, with a bit of early English and Classical thrown in for good measure. He seems to be able to appreciate most musical styles though.

I do wish James would make a full length musical proramme. Absolutely! All the evidence we have about his musical tastes suggests he has an incredibly wide range as far as music is concerned, and he would be the perfect person to handle that kind of programme. He could no doubt manage it with his usual light touch so it would not turn into something too dry or 'worthy'. I know the term 'Renaissance Man" can be bandied about a bit too freely, but I'm quite certain it is an apt description for James.

That was at the Leadenhall signing just over three years ago. I asked him if he'd ever considered doing a programme about music, and as far as I can remember, the answer was in the affirmative. However, there wasn't time to ask any more about it (as with all such events), so that was that. I'm afraid I didn't ask about it at the most recent signing, as it wasn't in my mind at the time. Sorry!

I seem to vaguely remember an idea been mooted that Oz and James would do a programme about choirs ( them both being ex choir boys,) but never heard any more.

I didn't realise till recently that Oz was a singer and had appeared in musicals such as "Sweeney Todd" and "Evita".
