Sounds like this is just a reprint of his old articles. I hate to be mean or anything but if it's not fresh material from him, I'm not buying it.

www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/products/james+may/may+on+board/8271422/In May On Board TOP GEAR's James May shares his opinions on just about everything from super cars to cheese sauce. In this ultimate collection of journalism, James muses on his favourite topics of fast cars and motorbikes but also delves into matters of social tolerances, aeroplanes, beer, engineering and the usual politics and morality. Full of James' trademark wit, May On Board is essential reading for the modern man.All we need now is a book signing date ;D Come on james give your fangirlies a real treat this summer

"May On Board is essential reading for the modern man." They're selling it short. ;D I so wish I could get to a booksigning one day! Despite the fact that I might be in London for a few days next year (fingers crossed), I don't like my chances.

You mean there's actually going to be a real book at long last? I thought it was just an urban myth! I'm a bit concerned about the reference to cheese sauce, as I'm pretty sure the cheese sauce article is in one of James' books already. For some reason I'm feeling a little sceptical about an August publication date, perhaps because we've been here before.
The book's referred to as an 'ultimate' collection of journalism, which rather suggests it'll have the final pieces from the Telegraph, plus Top Gear magazine and website. I'll start saving my pennies on the off-chance of a signing - James/agent/publishers/retailers please note: there are human beings north of Watford who would quite like to go to a signing without having to take out a second mortgage for transport costs.

It will be the 'best bits' of all his writings, the choice to buy it or not is of course up to the individual.
Keep nagging Dit you never know - he may make up to your neck of the woods which would save you and others a fortune by not having to come to the south ;D

For some reason I'm feeling a little sceptical about an August publication date, perhaps because we've been here before. I don't think the cheese sauce article is already in a book. I seem to remember he posted his own recipe for cheesy pasta in the comments section, which prompted a deluge of alternative recipes for various roux, bechamels and cheese sauces (and no doubt a string of bile and invective from Count Rollo), thereafter known as "the Great Cheese Sauce Debate" Those were the days.

Amazon has the publication date as 8/30/12. Don't authors do book-signings soon thereafter?

Ah, the Internet. Much worse than a bar brawl but probably the same amount of liquor. Love that, adrianmay - and so true! I don't think the cheese sauce article is already in a book. Oh, I thought it was. Perhaps James makes a reference to the cheese sauce debate, as opposed to the article itself. I do miss James' Telegraph column. I miss the comments. Hell, I even miss rosbif (I must be getting over-sentimental). Amazon has the publication date as 8/30/12. Don't authors do book-signings soon thereafter? Yes, his previous two were in December 2010 and November 2011, in each case a couple of months after publication. Both in London. I'll have to get my nagging boots on, to try and get him up here to the frozen north. Oh, and 'James May's Man Lab: The Book of Usefulness' is out in paperback on 7th June.

You may be right, Dit. I only have his last book on audio, and they always seem to drop a few chapters (and one is on twice - weird).
