I feel a booksigning visit coming on. I'll try not to be in Paris this time (he wasn't impressed when Jacqui told him why I couldn't be there so would he sign "A330 Airbus" for me in my absence!)

I'm glad there will be another book, but I'm a bit disappointed it's likely to be another collections of his columns. I would love it if James would write something all new, but he's probably a bit too busy for that.

Something is a foot The publishing of this book has been postponed indefinitely

Ooh, interesting. Perhaps what I said about him falling out with the DT is near the mark. They could be very difficult about him publishing a book of his columns for them if they chose to be.
It would also explain the comments I received when I rang Hodder and they dismissed any enquiry about May On Board, but said ,"the big one" was the Man Lab book, released on October 13th.

Maybe it has to do with copyright, even though they are his columns. I haven't read any of Jeremy's books but doesn't he have his Times column in there?

James works as a freelancer which means he owns the copyright to his columns and can do with them whatever he wants to do. The Telegraph have no say in this. My guess is that there simply isn't enough new material for a new collection. Mind you, he hasn't been writing a new column since last December. :-(

My guess is that there simply isn't enough new material for a new collection. Mind you, he hasn't been writing a new column since last December. :-( If the comment he made on the DT website in answer to Will is to be believed, he is not being paid by them at the moment. Which begs the question - should the Telegraph be reprinting his old columns for nothing if they are James's own copyright? Anyway, not being a fan of conspiracy theories etc (even my own), I wonder if the book has been delayed just because its original publication date was too close to the Manlab book. For that one, the timing is important. Another collection of James's journalism can wait - until Christmas, for example.

I've been wanting to know what kind of book this is going to be - is it really a collection of his former writings?

This might seem like a big bump, and I don't want to raise anybody's hopes unnecessarily as we've been here before and been disappointed, but Waterstone's website is currently listing the following:
May on Board by James May Format: Hardback 302 pages Published: 30/08/2012 196 days until publication £18.99
What is quite interesting is that they also list
James May Memoir by James May Format: Hardback Published:17/09/2009 Publication Abandoned
So is May On Board back afloat? What was the abandoned James May Memoir? Or are they one and the same thing, with a delayed publication date?

It's been suggested, missburlo, more than once. Hopefully one day James, his publishers and agent will admit to the existence of areas of the British Isles north of - oh, say - Birmingham? (Sorry, James!)

(Sorry, James!) It would be nice if his publishers and agent (are you listening?) arrange the right contracts so that all his books and videos are available in the US. He's losing out on the market here and I'm not sure he's being well-served by his agent in this regard.
