I'm going to resist the temptation to give you Chinese burns till you tell....I'll just have to boost James' Ferarri/Porsche/Daytona Triumph bike fund by trotting over to Amazon to order the DVD myself. Be grateful James, be very grateful!

I keep pulling my hand away from the mouse when it hovers over the PM button for you, Jacqui!! ;D I really want to know, but I'm sure I'd enjoy finding out for myself by watching it. * trots over to Amazon with Dit* I feel like I've paid enough into the "James Fund" to at least get a time share out of it! ;D When's good for you, James??

I'm still a bit confused because this thread is Challenges 4 and I've just ordered Adventures 4. According to Amazon, Challenges seems to be London-Edinburgh race, electric car etc, Adventures is Middle East etc. Hope I've ordered the right one!

....Ok. I'm bumping this thread because I have a request. Mods, please let me know if I'm in the wrong. I bought the TG Great Adventures 4 blu-ray a few months ago from Amazon.ca. And even though it came from a Canadian website, I was disappointed to find out that the blu-ray itself is still Region 2. The only blu-ray player I have is my PS3 which will not play any Region 2 content. I've been looking to buy an external blu-ray drive for the computer but a) they're expensive and I've been putting it off because of other things that needed funding and b) they seem to be a rare beast in this part of the world because none of the major retailers sell them. I will be getting one eventually, I just don't know when. Annnnnyway, the thing I'm most desperate to hear is the commentary (particularly James') from the Middle East special. I have not been able to find it online at all, so I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can download it or if its available to view anywhere? And here's my copy that I has been mocking my Region 1-ness for the last several months:

Sorry to hear about that Muggs! It is frustrating for those of us not in the UK that most of the DVD's etc. are in a different region. I keep my laptop set on region 2 and my husband keeps his set for region 1. I wish I had some useful information to help you out but unfortunately I do not. I just thought perhaps some commiseration might make you feel a bit better.

If you look up your make and model of player on the intertubes, you may be able to find instructions on how to set your player to Region 0 which should enable it to play any region at all.
We did that with our old DVD player. It was a Phillips which, for some reason, seemed to be easiest to hack. We have a Samsung BluRay player now that I haven't had the nerve to futz with but I can play my British stuff on the computer.
It may be worth a shot!

Thank you for the kind thoughts, aeromanda! I understand why they do it but I so hate region locks on DVD/Blu-rays.
And thank you for the information, heymysock! I have fiddled around with the PS3's setting before but I'm afraid to hack into it as I might do something catastrophic and not be able to set it back right again. Perhaps it might be worth looking for an extremely cheap blu-ray player and hacking into that.....

Regular blu-ray players are getting cheap these days. You should be able to find one that easy to hack and cheap at the same time.

You should be able to find one that easy to hack and cheap at the same time. Yeah, I think I saw one for $100 or so. Not too bad. I'm not sure if I'm that technically minded to hack into a blu-ray player so I think I might just get the an external one for the computer. Seems easier that way. Hopefully Christmas is kind. I can't believe the commentary isn't floating around the internet somewhere though.

Be careful with that. Many DVD-bluray drives for computers will ask you to set a region when you first use it, then won't allow you to change it again (or change it only a limited number of times).

For a player attached to the computer, I've got a program called AnyDVD by Slysoft. It'll remove any region codes so you can play any DVD on your computer. I've had this program for a few years and have had no issues with it. It really will play any DVD.
For Blu-Ray you'd need to get AnyDVD HD. There is a cost involved, but as far as I'm concerned it's been well worth it.

It all else fails, you can also download it from the box. (www.thebox.bz) It includes the commentary.

Oh yes. But for some reason, The Box doesn't seem to want me to join it. I tried to register last week and I still haven't received an activation email. Sigh. I've got a $100 gift card for FutureShop (electronics store) last night from my boyfriend, so I might just put it towards that external drive. Thanks for the suggestion though, lindenchase!
